My mother saw two heavily made-up girls on the street, so she approached them and said: (My dears, I am jealous of you because the youth see you like this. Wouldn't it be better for you to cover up and please your Lord?) One of them replied politely: (Auntie, I am Christian) My mother said to her: (Even so, Auntie, I am still jealous of you by God). I am happy when a Christian tells me: I follow your series (The Art of Having Good Opinions About Allah), and my love for Allah has increased. My words here do not contradict prioritizing the call to monotheism above all else, and that no work is accepted without it. But there is something we often neglect: The Christians living among us have a right over us, and we have a duty towards them: the duty of calling them to Allah. The essence of our relationship with them is not hostility, but calling them to the true religion: (You are the best nation brought forth for mankind)... (And We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds)...(And We have not sent you except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner)...A message from the Messenger of Allah and his nation behind him... These verses are addressed to us! - We must not forget them under the pressure of our worries as Muslims and the intensification of conspiracies against our nation. For among the reasons for losing Allah's guidance in these circumstances is our negligence in fulfilling our duty to call those among us from the people of other religions. - We must not forget them if the oppressive rulers in Muslim lands approach certain Christian sects and give them privileges at the expense of Muslims. - We must not forget them, even if one of us travels to the West and needs to present himself well before Western society to be accepted, he should focus on calling to Islam and not neglect it with the Christians of his country for years! - And we must not let the truth be lost between two parties: one that is weak-minded, whose concern is to flatter these Christians and appease them, even at the expense of the creed! And another that has taken them as enemies and has failed to call them with wisdom and good advice as Allah has commanded. - And we must not confuse two types among them: a hostile type that fights our religion, backed by the oppressors, and another misguided type that can be won over to the truth. The leaders of disbelief are the enemies of humanity in the world, and their followers who guard their interests in every country, and the misguided ones who turn their people away from the truth knowingly and distort it. These are common enemies for us and for those among us from the people of other religions. We must never allow them to divert the hostility to fall between us and those who are originally a target of our call, for Allah has sent us as a mercy to them.
