Episode 10 - Flavors that cannot be described!
- We are still talking about the wisdom of Allah the Almighty.. and how when you contemplate His wisdom in trials, it becomes a reason to increase your love for Allah, so the trial turns into a blessing, unlike those whose love for Allah diminishes when they are tested.
- Before the blessing of the trial I went through, I used to wonder: How do the believers who are tested by Allah with severe trials endure? I believed in His ability to grant them patience, but I wished my heart would be reassured. And when I met examples of these people, it was a blessing from Allah to me that I understood how they endure. It granted me tranquility in the face of Allah's decrees.
- I first saw that from the wisdom of Allah the Almighty is that He does not test His believing servants with burdens they cannot bear.. but with trials that match their faith.
- Al-Tirmidhi narrated from Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas who said: I said, O Messenger of Allah, who among people is most severely tested? He said: ((The prophets, then the best, then the best; a man is tested according to his faith, if he is firm in his faith, his trial is severe, and if he is weak in his faith, he is tested according to his faith, and the trial does not leave the servant until he walks on the earth with no sin upon him)) (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi who said: Good and sound, and it was authenticated by Al-Albani and Shuaib Al-Arna'ut) - Second: I saw how Allah deals gently with His believing servants, gradually testing them.. testing them according to their faith.. then they endure.. so patience increases their faith to a degree that qualifies them to bear a more severe trial.. Allah tests them with that trial.. then they endure.. and so on.. so the trial mixes with faith, and both elevate the servant to a degree he never dreamed of or imagined he was worthy of at the beginning of his trial!
- Third: Even if a severe trial suddenly befalls the believer.. I saw how Allah grants His believing servant flavors that are tasted but cannot be described! Just like the taste of fruit and the scent of perfumes..
- If you asked me to describe the taste of an orange or an apple, or the scent of jasmine or basil.. could you? These are flavors that are tasted but cannot be described.
- Likewise, these servants of Allah, whom you cannot imagine how they endure, have tasted the flavor of tranquility, intimacy with Allah, and the heart's attachment to Him, and contentment with His decree.. these meanings are flavors: they are tasted but cannot be described. I tasted something of this in my experience and knew its effect.. but in the blessing of the trial, I met people I consider better than me and more experienced in these meanings than me.
- Their trials were severe, much more severe than mine, but their faces were radiant with contentment, joy, and tranquility, and their tongues were filled with praise of Allah and minimizing their patience as long as it was for the sake of Allah. One of them even said to me: (I, while I ask Allah for relief, sometimes I almost ask Allah not to answer my supplication, remembering the great reward I will have in the Hereafter for that time)!
- I reminded this brother that I have good thoughts about Allah the Almighty that He will make for me a relief and a way out soon, and he would say to me: (This is beautiful, but I want for you a higher level than that: I want you to enjoy the blessing of the trial!).
- Enjoy the blessing of the trial! I did not understand his words at that time, but I began to live them after a period of continuing the "blessing of the trial".
- I have seen in my experience a glimpse of the wisdom of Allah in trials.. the trial began light at first, and I thought it would soon pass.. Allah granted me patience, and my strength increased, so the trial increased.. and every time it increased, tranquility would descend from Allah that would grant patience. So praise be to Allah, the Wise, the Merciful.
- These wondrous flavors, if you have not tasted them, you can see their effects: The magicians of Pharaoh had no concern except: {Shall we have a reward if we are the victors?} [Al-Shu'ara: 41].. They had lived for many years seeking the world through magic and deceiving people. - Then it was only a moment of guidance and certainty that made them mountains standing firm against the threat of being cut and crucified, saying to Pharaoh: {They said, "We will never prefer you over what has come to us of the clear proofs and [the One] who originated us. So decree what you are to decree. You can only decree concerning this worldly life. Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us to of magic. And Allah is best and most enduring."} [Ta-Ha: 72-73]!!
- O Allah! Worldly, earthly people.. in a moment they tasted these indescribable flavors and turned into giants whose souls were attached to the Hereafter, not hoping for any good from people nor fearing any harm!
So if you see righteous people being tested with severe trials, and questions arise in your heart about the wisdom of Allah in their trials, say: (It is upon myself. They have not complained to their Lord, glorified and exalted be He, to anyone. If they are content with the decree of Allah, what is my concern? Allah is more merciful to them than I am).. while striving, of course, to help them and lift the trial from them if you can.
The conclusion of this station:
From the wisdom of Allah the Almighty Is to grant those with severe trials indescribable flavors.
