Episode 26 - You have no rights over Allah in this world
Among the most important truths that bring you peace, patience, and increase your love for Allah: You have no "rights" with Allah in this world!
In the hadith narrated by Abu Dawood and authenticated by Al-Albani from Ibn Al-Dilami, he said: I came to Abu Bin Ka'b and said to him: (Something has occurred to me regarding destiny, so tell me something, perhaps Allah will remove it from my heart). He said: (If Allah were to punish the people of the heavens and the earth, He would not be unjust to them, and if He were to have mercy on them, His mercy would be better for them than their deeds. If you were to spend like Uhud in gold in the way of Allah, Allah would not accept it from you until you believe in destiny and know that what has befallen you was not meant to miss you, and what has missed you was not meant to befall you. If you die without this, you will enter Hell). He said: Then I went to Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud and he said the same, then I went to Hudhayfah Ibn Al-Yaman and he said the same, then I went to Zayd Ibn Thabit, and he told me from the Prophet (peace be upon him) the same.
How much you will rest, my brother, and how much you will rest, my sister, when this concept settles in your heart and your heart is at peace with it: You have nothing with Allah in this world that you can expect as a right just by your existence! Even if He deprives you of everything, He is not unjust to you, Glorified is He. And Allah has obligated upon Himself for His believing servants Paradise.. {Say, 'Is that better, or the Eternal Garden which the righteous have been promised? It will be for them a reward and an end. In it, they will have whatever they wish, abiding eternally. It is a promise binding upon your Lord, to be asked.}[Al-Furqan: 16, 15]..
Yes, Allah has obligated it upon Himself for His believing servants as a favor and generosity from Him, and has made what man seeks in this world causes and laws, from which he who takes them attains. And He has commanded His servants with commands, and promised them if they fulfill them with promises, such as provision for those who fear, victory for those who help their Lord, and empowerment for those who believe and do righteous deeds. Whoever does not attain anything from this knows that the deficiency is in his fulfillment of the command of his Lord, who has promised him, or that he is in the law of trial which Allah has also promised: {And We will surely test you}.
As for assuming that you have a right with Allah to give you just because you exist! This is only due to your lack of understanding the position of servitude before the Owner of the Kingdom, Glorified is He!
When this settles in your heart, the starting point of your assumptions is nothing. If Allah blesses you with health and blesses you with wealth, family, and others, you taste the blessing of health and acknowledge Allah's favor. But if the starting point is that it is your right with Allah to give you everything, you will only see the empty half of the cup, and your soul will go astray in grief over every blessing you have lost, even if Allah has blessed you with everything else. And this is the plight of many, that they see from their "rights" with Allah that He should give them wealth, health, security, and... and... and... if they are deprived of anything from this, they harbor in their chests towards their Lord, Glorified is He, what is not befitting!
When you remember that you have nothing with Allah and that the original state of the world is that it is a place of trials, you will see joys as comforting instead of seeing trials as bitter.
For example, you may be in the midst of preparing for a celebration of a happy occasion, and something happens to one of your loved ones! If you assume perfection in your life, you will see this detention as bitter for your celebration, spoiling its joy. But if it settles in your heart that this incident is a trial among the trials expected in the world - because the original state of this life is trial - you will see the joy of the celebration as comforting, relieving some of the inevitable grief..
So proceed in your life, remembering well this truth: You have no rights with Allah in this world.
