Episode 6

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah. Dear brothers, in previous episodes we discussed hidden truths about hypocrisy, where we mentioned that hypocrisy is a widespread phenomenon among us to varying degrees, and that a person may have hypocrisy without realizing it, and may combine faith and hypocrisy, and that the verses that speak about hypocrites have many applications in our reality and each of us should pay attention to them and not think that he is not meant by them. Today we will begin by discussing some of the characteristics of hypocrisy mentioned in the Holy Quran, and let each of us judge himself according to the verses we will recite... The first characteristic we will mention is: complaining when afflicted. Allah the Almighty said: ((And among people is he who worships Allah on the edge; if good befalls him, he is reassured by it, but if trial befalls him, he turns on his face, losing this world and the Hereafter. That is the evident loss)). Al-Bukhari narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, that he said in the interpretation of this verse: A man would come to Al-Madinah, if his wife gave birth to a boy and his horse gave birth – meaning: gave birth – he would say: (This is a good religion), and if his wife did not give birth and his horse did not give birth, he would say: (This is a bad religion). So these are people who come to the Messenger of Allah in Al-Madinah and embrace Islam, expecting that their Islam will bring them the good of this world and protect them from calamities, and they measure the correctness of the religion by the achievement of worldly benefits. If Allah tests him and exposes him to a trial, he hates Islam and says: I have not seen since I embraced Islam except evil.

How painful it was, my brothers, to see an old man whose hair was gray in a rich area, his shoes were stolen in the mosque after Friday prayer, and he shouted and "threatened" that he would not pray in the mosques from that day on...and I do not know whom he is threatening! Is he threatening the thief? The thief does not care whether people pray in the mosques or not, except to steal their shoes...or is he directing this angry speech to Allah the Almighty?! Allah is the Rich, the Praiseworthy.

A woman entered Hell for a cat she imprisoned, and perhaps some people will enter Hell for shoes they could not endure losing! And I do not know! If they cannot bear to lose a shoe, how will they sacrifice themselves for the sake of Him who said: ((Verily, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their wealth, for them is Paradise, they fight in the cause of Allah, they kill and are killed)).

Examine yourself, brother...when you commit to the command of Allah the Almighty, then He tests you...does something of complaint arise in your chest against destiny? And is this a sign of the sincerity of your turning to Allah the Almighty and that you obeyed Him out of love for Him, fear of Him, and hope for the Hereafter...or is the enjoyment of this world the ultimate of ambitions and hopes?!

We ask Allah to rectify our hearts and purify them from hypocrisy. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
