Episode 9

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah. Dear brothers, we are still discussing the methods of falsehood when it fails to confront the truth and its proofs. Some verses in Surah (Sad) caught my attention, narrating about the disbelievers using many of these methods. Allah the Almighty said: ((And they wondered that a warner came to them from among them, and the disbelievers said, 'This is a sorcerer, a liar (4). Shall we make the gods one god? Indeed, this is an amazing thing (5). And the eminent among them went away, saying, 'Proceed and be patient upon your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended (6). We have not heard of this in the latter religion. This is not but an invention (7). Is the reminder sent down to him from among us? Rather, they are in doubt about My reminder, but they have not tasted My punishment (8).')) Muhammad (peace be upon him) called them to what appeals to the natural disposition and satisfies the intellect. How did they respond? With logic? With discussion? No, of course not! Let's review their methods: 1) Slandering the caller without evidence: ((And the disbelievers said, 'This is a sorcerer, a liar')) 2) Expressing amazement at something while the amazement is in its opposite: ((Shall we make the gods one god? Indeed, this is an amazing thing))...Why are you amazed?! Let's discuss...but they are weaker than that, so they resorted to the third method, which is: 3) Fleeing from discussion: ((And the eminent among them went away))...When they were cornered in the discussion, they fled and escaped. 4) Raising their voices with noise and conspiring with falsehood. The weak pretends to be convinced of his falsehood by ordering others to feel that he is satisfied with his principles to the extent of calling to them. What did they conspire while fleeing? ((Proceed and be patient upon your gods)), and this leads us to the fifth method, which is: 5) Adorning falsehood as if it is something to be patient with: ((Proceed and be patient upon your gods)) meaning continue with what you were upon, associating partners with Allah, and be patient with this principle. What a patience! Patience with shirk (polytheism), ignorance, and rejecting the truth! 6) The conspiracy theory and doubting the caller's intention, as in their saying: ((Indeed, this is a thing intended)), meaning this which Muhammad (peace be upon him) calls you to, monotheism, is something intended to honor and elevate himself over you, and to have followers from you, so do not respond to that. 7) Rejecting the truth merely because it contradicts what they are accustomed to and inherited, as in their saying: ((We have not heard of this in the latter religion))...meaning this is not what our fathers and grandfathers taught us. 8) Random statements and judgments without evidence, as in their saying: ((This is not but an invention (7)))...meaning what he brought to you is nothing but a fabricated lie...far from it. 9) Objecting to the person who brought the truth, as in their saying: ((Is the reminder sent down to him from among us))...Why Muhammad? Why was the reminder not sent down to one of us, the sons of Makhzum, for example? Nine methods and arguments, none of which are rational or logical! Only noise and escape. Therefore, my brother, do not be deceived if you witness a debate between two parties and see one of them gathering "evidence" in his view and accumulating points. All of them may be false, just as the evidence of the Quraysh was.

Review, my brother, the verses in Surah (Sad) and contemplate them, and thank Allah that He guided you to Islam. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
