"Not All Religion"!
You might advise your son or colleague, and they say to you: "Not all religion!" or say about the science teacher: "He turned the class into religion," because he talked about the greatness of Allah's creation and mentioned some verses.
This is one of the most dangerous concepts that have infiltrated us from the secularization of curricula and societal culture: that "religion" has its rituals that take part of our time (like prayer) and a corner in our lives, and has its share in school, and its specialization in university...After that, it's "not acceptable" to mix "religion" with "science," and it's "unreasonable" whenever you want to joke or have fun, you're told "bring me the biography of religion"!!
A weak perception of the religion of the Lord of the Worlds, who described it as: (Say, "My prayer, my sacrifice, my life, and my death are for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.")
Our religion is "Allah's dye," which should color our entire lives, as He said: (The dye of Allah, and who is better than Allah in dyeing? And we are His worshippers).
The exegetes said about it: He named it dye because it shows the effect of religion on the believer, just as dye shows its effect on the cloth, so it adheres to it and does not leave it, like dye adheres to the cloth.
- Study Arabic rules that help me understand my religion and heritage, of which I am proud as a component of my identity.
- And English to invite its speakers to my religion, know the language of those who target my religion, and excel in sciences.
- I learn biology and natural sciences to increase my certainty in the greatness of the Creator, increase people's certainty, and earn my livelihood as my religion commands me.
- If I joke and have fun, I joke and have fun within the boundaries of my religion. - I play with my children, hug them, and enjoy their childhood while knowing that my great religion rewards me even for these natural acts.
- It is "dye," which should never leave us as Muslims in any case.
But do you know what sometimes repels people and makes them say this bad phrase (Not all religion)?
Lack of wisdom in dealing with them...when your "preaching" is affected in the wrong place:
- They are in fun and permissible play, and you want to preach them a long sermon that does not suit the occasion.
- Your young son talks to you about his interests, and you "fail" him and give him a lecture: (What you said or did was wrong, and you should have done this and that).
- You are a teacher at a school or a lecturer at a university...you deviate from the topic of your class or lecture in an affected manner and prolong it without reason.
But! None of this is from religion to say: "Not all religion"!
In the hadith narrated by Bukhari:
Abdullah (Ibn Masud) would remind people every Thursday, and a man said to him: (O Abu Abd al-Rahman, I wish you would remind us every day).
He said: (Only that prevents me from doing so is that I hate to bore you, and I give you the sermon in moderation, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to give it to us, fearing boredom for us).
Allah is great! The Prophet (peace be upon him), whose speech is the best of human speech, used to reduce sermons so as not to bore people! Knowing that his sermons are few words! And Abdullah Ibn Masud follows the guidance of the Prophet, advising once a week while they are thirsty!
Teach people with your behavior and manners, and do not overdo the sermons, for this is not from religion...and for those who say: "Not all religion"...but how beautiful is Allah's religion if we understand it!
