Supplement to the Huda Sha'arawi article
After what we published regarding what Huda Sha'arawi, whom Google celebrated, did, some asked about the source of the information.
We say: Her story is mentioned in many books that dealt with the issue of the Westernization of women, which enables the documentation of such historical events.
In the article (Huda Sha'arawi, Women's Decadence, and Tahrir Square) by the writer: Ahmed Adel:
Then the episodes of decline followed, so there was the famous women's demonstration in 1919 AD, in Ismailia Square, which was later named Tahrir Square, where Safia Zaghloul, wife of Saad Zaghloul, and Huda Sha'arawi were at their head. The women gathered in front of the English army barracks and chanted against the occupation.
Then, by prior arrangement, and without apparent introductions, they removed the hijab, threw it on the ground, poured petrol on it, and set fire to it. Thus, the woman was "liberated" according to their claim, as if removing the hijab would expel colonialism and end the presence of the English in Egypt....
Huda Sha'arawi did not stop at that limit, but went on to persist in attempting to degrade and despise the hijab. Regarding that, Dr. Safinaz Kazem says: (Huda Sha'arawi and her secretary "Ceza Nabarawi" threw off their hijabs and trampled them with their feet immediately upon their arrival from the International Women's Conference held in Rome in the summer of 1923 AD) [Highlighting the Truth and Correctness in the Issue of Unveiling and Hijab, Dr. Safinaz Kazem, p. (9)].

(A group of women adopted the cause, headed by Huda Sha'arawi, and a group of men [defending] women's rights.
And the first right that women demanded became unveiling (Sufur)! And the issue around which the controversy revolved became unveiling and the hijab!! The leader of the [Feminist Renaissance] was Huda [Hanem] Sha'arawi, who made her home a [salon] where she met men unveiled without the presence of a Mahram (15) (In the footnote, the Doctor refers to his discussion about these salons and what took place in them in his book (Our Contemporary Reality)).
Then he said: (And amidst these serious demonstrations, the women's demonstration took place, headed by Safia Hanem Zaghloul, wife of Saad Zaghloul. The women gathered in front of the Qasr El Nil barracks and chanted against the occupation.
Then, by prior arrangement, and without apparent introductions, they removed the hijab, threw it on the ground, poured petrol on it, and set fire to it.
And the woman was liberated!!! (19) ) He mentioned Safia Zaghloul as a leader in this incident, and others mentioned the presence of Huda Sha'arawi with her, as in the article above.
In the footnote:
((19) Ismailia Square, where the woman shed her Islamic hijab, was named [Tahrir Square] (Liberation Square) to immortalize this great memory!)
