Talk to me about Islam before prayer and the hijab!
Despite everything, I am optimistic about what our nation is going through. One of the reasons for my optimism is that these events force those who carry burdens to correct their language when addressing people. "Pray, my brother... Cover yourself, my sister...Stop listening to songs...Stop watching series"... This discourse assumed that the addressees had no real ideological problems...and that what they lacked was hearing the evidence of what should be done or avoided...and some encouragement to comply...and fear of the consequences of negligence. This discourse was deluded into thinking that the addressees were Muslims, children of Muslims...from a nation of a billion and a half...so the issue of certainties was assumed to be settled with them. For many years, I felt that this discourse skipped the original problem...the problem of weak certainties in people's hearts...so it did not bring the desired results. Now...with the intensity of the attack...many convictions have shaken...doubts have surfaced...the reservoir of a billion and a half is cracking and leaking from it those who leak... And the reformers complain that those who are supposed to be Muslims are now asking about the assumed truths and doubting them... Meaning, we have returned to square one, and we are now calling a number of "Muslims" to Islam!! Do you know, my brothers?: This is good! Yes, good... To return and build the creed from its first bricks and strengthen it before launching from it to judgments, the permissible and the forbidden...this directs the compass of the preaching discourse that was skipping the real problem. And this returns the call to its prophetic foundational stage, which was described by Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: "The first thing to be revealed was a chapter from the detailed chapters, in which there was mention of Paradise and Hell, until when people returned to Islam, the permissible and the forbidden were revealed. If the first thing to be revealed was: 'Do not drink alcohol,' they would have said: 'We will never give up alcohol,' and if it was revealed: 'Do not commit adultery,' they would have said: 'We will never give up adultery.'" (Bukhari). We have returned with a segment of the addressees to the certainties: Allah, prophethood, the Hereafter... It may seem painful that we have returned to square one...but believe me, the solid construction begins here...not from deceiving ourselves with the numbers and billions that our Prophet, peace be upon him, described in advance: "But you will be many on that day, but you will be like the scum of the flood!" And this return to square one will have great results, by the will of Allah...on our faith and the faith of those we call...the important thing is to confront this with determination and resolve and certainty, to succeed in this test, and to save those who can be saved... Be glad...for Allah the Almighty does not decree pure evil...but evil stirs the stagnant waters of good, and extracts treasures from the hearts of believers...and the final result: good for them and elevation of ranks, and loss for the disbelievers and hypocrites...they are events that lower and raise...the law of Allah in those who came before us.
