The Eternal Misery Decision!

I am stopped by verses in Surah Al-Anbiya: When Ibrahim (peace be upon him) broke the idols, his people came to him and said: (Did you do this to our gods, O Ibrahim?) He said: (Rather, their leader did this, so ask them if they can speak) Notice now: (Then they returned to themselves and said, 'You are the wrongdoers (64). Then they bowed their heads and said, 'We know that these do not speak (65).') They realized for a moment that they were the wrongdoers and that Ibrahim was right, and some even declared this to each other. Then, as the context shows, they returned to Ibrahim...to submit? Never! Instead, they insisted and proved the 'accusation' against him in preparation to burn him! What happened? Why did they revert so quickly? What words did they say after (You are the wrongdoers) that made them agree to persist in disbelief? I imagine many words...words of tongues and eyes: O people, do you want it to be said that the people were convinced by a young boy and admitted that they had been astray for decades? Where is our dignity after that? Where is the people's respect for us? O people, the worship of idols and their glorification is our trade and our livelihood...if we admit to Ibrahim (how will we live then?) O so-and-so, you owe me, if you admit to Ibrahim and lose your privileges and position based on the idols, how will you pay me back? So they made a collective decision to insist on disbelief, forget the truth, and declare that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is the wrongdoer, not them! The truth was lost in the chaos of arrogance, the pursuit of worldly interests, and the fear of consequences. Perhaps the one who first said (You are the wrongdoers) was the one who later said: (Burn him and defend your gods if you are doers)! To outdo his companions and prove that nothing remained of the moment of awakening in his heart! These are the heedless! They knew the truth, and they could have become the companions of the father of the prophets and been immortalized in eternal bliss. But they made a decision to turn a blind eye in a moment! So Allah misguided their hearts, and they are now in the torment of Al-Barzakh before the eternal torment. Allah the Almighty said: (And We will turn their hearts and their eyes as they did not believe in it the first time, and We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly). If you know the truth and do not submit to it, you are exposed to having your vision blurred by Allah the Almighty so that you turn away from it forever! Unfortunately, this turning a blind eye to the truth is not limited to the disbelievers, but also happens with some Muslims, and even some of those described as 'Islamists' in some aspects of the religion, where arrogance, outdoing, the love of fame, the fear of being said: (He admitted he was wrong for years), the fear of consequences, and the weakness of detachment and sincerity... Thus, the relapse occurs. O Allah, save us.
