The Sheikh and "Al-Ramghl"
(This story is a collection of scattered dialogues). The taxi started. The driver: Where are you going, Sheikh? - The eighth round. - Insha'Allah, Sheikh. - Brother, I'm not a Sheikh. - Not a Sheikh?! Why do you grow a beard then? - Following the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). - Then you are a Sheikh! - Okay, and what about you? - I'm just normal. - So you're not a follower of the Prophet (peace be upon him)? - No...how? Of course, I am... But I mean...I mean...Sheikh, I'm calling you Sheikh out of respect, not meaning anything. - Thank you for your respect, but let me ask you again: What do you mean by saying you're normal? - I mean you, the Sheikhs, call people and study religion. - So the one who doesn't do that is normal or negligent? When Allah the Almighty said: (You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind; you enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah)...Aren't you part of this nation? - Yes, of course. - When the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (Let the beards grow), is this speech for the "Sheikhs" and "Muslims" or for all the men of his nation? - For all men, of course. - So the one who does not respond to the command of Allah and His Messenger, is he normal or negligent? - Negligent, you're right, but honestly, you Sheikhs have driven people away from religion. - On account! A little while ago, you called me "Sheikh" out of respect! You made me feel like I'm driving people away from religion! Did you see anything in me that drives people away from Allah? May Allah forgive you? - No, you're safe. But look at what the Sheikhs do. - "Sheikhs" are people like you, ordinary humans, they make mistakes and they succeed. If you see their behavior as repulsive, then be the one who grows the beard and gives a bright image. - Sheikh, honestly, when someone grows a beard, people look at him differently. You know how much the media and news have distorted the image of Sheikhs. - So you know that the media lies and exaggerates, not all those called "Sheikhs" are repulsive. - Of course, not all fingers are the same. - So isn't it brave in this case to grow the beard with good behavior that makes people love the Sunnah that the media distorts and bear the harm for that? Instead of running away from confrontation by convincing ourselves that the bearded ones are repulsive? - You've cornered me, Sheikh. - You're still calling me Sheikh! - Done, I can't call you anything else...I got used to it. - Okay, let me call you "Negligent" again! Since we agreed that you are negligent. Or I'll say, without hurting your feelings, I'll call you (Man without a beard), or let's shorten it to the first letters of the phrase (R, M, G, L), "Ramghl". Since you insist on calling me with a special title, let me call you with a special title..What do you think? - "Ramghl"?! Hmmmm...not bad...you have a light heart, Sheikh, you Sheikhs love debates, talking, and jokes. Have you heard the latest joke about Sheikhs? This is how I'll tell you once, Sheikh... - Before you finish, Ramghl! We agreed that you mean by Sheikhs the followers of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who adhered to his Sunnah, and the media distorts their image. - Hmmmm...Aaaah. - What is the joke you want to tell about the followers of the Prophet? - I seek refuge in Allah, I don't joke about the followers of the Prophet. But the Sheikhs don't represent Islam. Do you deny that they do things not from Islam? - We don't deny, Ramghl. But those who make jokes about the bearded ones, are they perhaps the most pious people and make jokes about them out of zeal for the religion from the mistakes of the bearded ones? - Honestly, no, not pious nor anything, many of them are troublemakers and make jokes mockingly. - And this mockery doesn't gradually turn into mockery of things from the religion that the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his noble companions did? - You're right, Sheikh. - We've arrived, Ramghl. May Allah grant you well-being...Let me off, please. - Sheikh, Ramghl isn't nice! Like "Dangal" from the internet! - Nor is Sheikh nice. The Sheikh is old, and I'm still young. - So what do you want me to call you? - Brother. - You're welcome: Brother. - Again: You're welcome, Brother, not Ramghl :) - Thank you, Sheikh (I said it unconsciously) - :( But Insha'Allah, I benefited from the conversation.
