Episode 8
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah. Dear brothers, in the previous two episodes, we stopped at the verse ((Do not approach the orphan's property except in the best way until he reaches maturity, and give full measure and weight with justice)) Here, my brothers, we notice that Allah Almighty loves for His servants to be careful about the rights of others, not negligent, aware of the soul that incites evil, which tempts man to increase the enjoyment of this world at the expense of others. However, Allah Almighty does not want His servants to fall into difficulty and hardship, and for the precaution against injustice to others to become an obsession that disturbs the peace of the Muslim and makes him fear excessively. Therefore, after these commands to do good with the orphan's property and to give full measure and weight, come gentle and kind words from our Lord Almighty that relieve the difficulty: ((We do not burden a soul beyond its capacity)). This sentence came as an interruption between a group of divine commandments in an attention-grabbing way that feels the necessity of this reminder in this place, even if it breaks the sequence of the commandments, so that a state of the required balance in the individual's being occurs and excessive fear does not dominate him. Follow with me the sequence of the verse: ((And do not approach the property of the orphan except in the best way until he reaches maturity, and give full measure and weight with justice. We do not burden a soul beyond its capacity. And when you speak, be just, even if it is with a relative, and fulfill the covenant of Allah. That is what He has commanded you with, so that you may remember)). If the seller strives to give the buyer his right but suffers a loss without knowing it, then Allah is Forgiving and Merciful and will not hold him accountable for it. A commandment that combines in its details precision and leniency, and control and relief of difficulty. It is not required of the seller to increase the measure or the weight as a precaution. No, it is not required of the seller to increase the measure or the weight as a precaution. Rather, it is required of him to strive to give the buyer his right without any loss. Notice that He did not say (We do not burden a soul beyond its capacity), but ((except its capacity)), meaning what it has in it of capacity, spaciousness, ease, and comfort. Such an interrupting sentence came in Surah Al-Isra' in the middle of a group of divine commandments, specifically after His saying: ((And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and to parents do good. If one or both of them reach old age in your presence, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small.' (23-24))). Here, the righteous son may despair if he makes a mistake towards his parents and feels the collapse of what he has built, especially knowing the greatness of their right upon him. Then comes immediately after these verses His saying: ((Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts. If you are righteous, then He is indeed Forgiving to the penitent (25)))... meaning: If Allah knows from your hearts the intention of righteousness and the belief in what is due to the parents in honor, then He forgives the slip or mistake that may escape from one of you towards them in a moment of anger or constriction of the chest, but on the condition that he repents and seeks forgiveness, so he should not despair or lose hope of this mistake. Great Lord! ((Allah wants for you ease and does not want for you hardship)). A Wise Lord, who preserves the rights of people towards each other and awakens their consciences without putting them in difficulty and hardship. All praise is due to Allah for the blessing of Islam. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
