Episode 20 - The Danger of Obeying While Hating It
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah, Brother...it is not enough to obey Allah, but you must also obey Him while loving this obedience. This is an important meaning that often escapes our minds. For obedience to be accepted by Allah, we must present it while loving it. It is not enough to pay zakat, but you must pay it while being happy that you have performed this obedience. It is not enough to wear the correct hijab and jilbab, but you must wear it while loving it. Often, we behave in a way that shows we do not love the obedience we offer, so this obedience becomes flawed. - I remember a man who asked me and said: I gave a plumber some money to renovate my new house, but the plumber cheated me and ran away. Can I deduct the amount he took from my zakat! May Allah help us. This is not how zakat should be given, brothers. - The Muslim girl when she wants to wear the hijab and knows its legal conditions, but unfortunately, it is rare to find someone who adheres to these conditions...that it should be loose, thick, not decorated or adorned...does this evasion of the legal hijab in all ways indicate your love for this obedience? The one who prays the obligatory prayer at the last moment and rushes through it as if performing Swedish exercises! Is he a lover of prayer? Brothers and sisters, the matter is serious, as it is related to the acceptance or rejection of obedience. What is the evidence for this? Allah the Almighty says: ((And what prevents their spending from being accepted from them except that they have disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger)) This is not present, praise be to Allah, but listen to what comes after, listen to the other obstacles to the acceptance of the deed: Allah the Almighty says: ((And they do not come to prayer except reluctantly and they do not spend except grudgingly))...they perform prayer lazily and without love for it, and they spend zakat grudgingly. Therefore, hatred of obedience prevents its acceptance. Note...our speech is not about the difficulty that accompanies obedience - For example, the sleeper finds it difficult to get up at dawn, and this does not diminish his faith. But if he gets up, performs ablution, and begins to pray, he loves his prayer and is happy that he has obeyed his Lord. How different he is from the one who prays lazily and does not remember Allah in his prayer except a little, and when he finishes it, it is as if he has cast a burden off his back! - The one who wears the correct hijab is sad if some ignorant people comment on her, but she loves the hijab in itself and is happy that she has obeyed the command of her Lord and feels the wisdom of Allah in that He has prescribed it for her. How different she is from the one who is disgusted by the correct hijab, even if no one comments on it, and she tries to evade it. Therefore, brothers and sisters, let us ask ourselves every time we offer an act of obedience to Allah the Almighty: Do we love this obedience? Our joy and our performance of Allah's command in the best manner will answer for us. And if the answer is otherwise, we will present in other episodes the treatment that makes obedience beloved to us, by the will of Allah. And remember that what prevents the acceptance of the deeds of some people is that they: ((Do not come to prayer except reluctantly and do not spend except grudgingly)). May Allah rectify our hearts and accept our deeds. And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
