Episode 26 - How can you make it easier to adhere to prayer?

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah. Dear brother, dear sister, do you find adhering to prayer difficult or easy? Do you find it hard to pray five times a day at specific times? If you find it difficult, then inform Allah of that! Inform Him that it is heavy. Where? After His saying: ((And seek help in patience and prayer)) He said: ((And it is indeed heavy))...meaning heavy, difficult...yes. It is not easy to adhere to prayer every day and throughout your life, with the conditions of prayer such as purity, and even if it makes you abandon something you desire or obtain pleasure or wealth. You may be enjoying sleep and then get up for prayer, you may be in your trade earning profits and then get up for prayer, you may be exhausted from work seeking rest and then get up for prayer...this is a heavy matter and not easy. However, He then made an exception and said: ((And it is indeed heavy except for the humble (45) who believe they will meet their Lord and that they will return to Him (46) )) (Al-Baqarah). Therefore, it is easy and beloved to those who are humble and submissive to Allah, those who are humble before Him, glorified be He, who believe, and belief in the Quran comes with the meaning of certainty, those who are certain that they will meet their Lord and He will reward them with goodness if they are good, and He will hold them accountable if they fall short in their prayers. If a person is complaining about all of this, then prayer will be difficult for him, because he is sacrificing his time and effort and preoccupying himself with prayer to a Lord whom he doubts he will meet to be held accountable! And notice His saying: ((And that they will return to Him)), He did not say: and that they will go to Him or depart to Him, but ((return)). As if this word implies that we departed from Allah, glorified be He, who created us for a specific mission: to worship Him, then we return to Allah whom we will meet to ask us if we fulfilled the mission for which we were sent. This makes us feel shy before Allah that we do not prepare for this meeting and this reckoning that we will be held accountable for when we return to Him. Therefore, if you are certain of this, then at that moment, prayer will be easy for you and it will not be heavy.

Therefore, O brother and O sister, whenever you find prayer heavy and difficult to maintain, revisit your faith and tell yourself: Am I certain of resurrection after death? Am I certain that I will stand before Allah, glorified be He, and the first thing He will hold me accountable for is my prayers? Am I a believer that performing this prayer will be the cause of eternal happiness? Then how can I find it difficult and neglect it? ((And seek help in patience and prayer, and it is indeed heavy except for the humble (45) who believe they will meet their Lord and that they will return to Him (46) )) Therefore, my brothers and sisters, the conclusion of today's reminder is that certainty of resurrection and meeting Allah, glorified be He, makes it easy to adhere to prayer. If you find prayer heavy, then renew your faith. And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
