Aslam al-Habashi narrated from Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: (Let not your love be infatuation, nor your hatred be destruction). I said: How is that? He said: (When you love, you become infatuated like a child, and when you hate, you wish destruction upon your companion) (Narrated by Al-Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad) It's as if Umar sees our condition: whoever loves a person or group becomes emotionally attached to them like children's attachment, and whoever hates a person or group wishes them every evil! This is from lack of knowledge and lack of purification.
