Peace be upon you, dear audience. Just a short while ago, during the afternoon prayer, I went down for prostration in the first rak'ah, and my right little finger twisted in a strange way, and all my weight fell on it. I heard a very clear "crack." By the grace of God, I was able to complete the prayer. After the prayer, I went for an X-ray, and it showed a significant fracture that will need some time to heal.
Now, why am I telling you this? Of course, I know that some of you will pray for me and ask God for my recovery, and may God reward you all with goodness. I do not want to trouble anyone with my personal matters, especially when there are global events more important than this trivial matter. However, I thought I would use this as an opportunity to convey a message.
It occurred to me, glory be to God, how some people may draw near to prayer, start to practice religion, and approach God, only to be tested. In this situation, the devil may come to them and say, "Well, why would God test you after you have drawn near to Him?"
Here, we remember the words of God, the Almighty: "And among the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If good befalls him, he is reassured by it; but if a trial befalls him, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [both] the world and the Hereafter. That is the evident loss." (Quran 22:11)
A person may be tested, and indeed, by God, this is a blessing from Allah, the Exalted, for it is, God willing, an opportunity to increase good deeds. A person should never be surprised if God tests him when he draws near to Him.
When a person strives, my friends, when one strives, he may lose an eye, have a limb amputated, suffer severe injuries and intense pain, or even lose his life. It is very, very normal. We were created to worship God, the Almighty, and to sacrifice for His religion. In return, we have the reward, by the permission of God, the Exalted.
Therefore, if you are tested on your path to God, the Exalted, do not let this thought come to you; it is something very normal and very expected. Hold on to patience, gratitude, and praise to God, the Exalted. At that moment, these trials will be a blessing for you.
For those who have read our book "Having Good Thoughts About God" - I hope you have read it - we will put the link in the comments, God willing. Please forgive me again for troubling anyone with my personal matters, but the idea was to convey a message about having good thoughts about God, the Exalted.
Peace be upon you.
