A Message to Followers of Egyptian Media
My brother who follows Egyptian media, this is advice from a brother who wishes you well and does not seek any reward from you nor fears any punishment. To reassure you in advance, I inform you that I may have been more critical of the experience of Islamic political parties in a legally sound manner over the past year and a half, and I have published words on the prohibition of their participation in presidential and parliamentary elections under the deep state after the late Hosni Mubarak, for reasons I have explained in a series titled "Defending the Sharia" and in many other words.
Therefore, I am not speaking on their behalf nor defending their mistakes here, and I am not one of those who demand the return of Muhammad Morsi as president. I am the one who prohibits his election and the election of others as long as the elected position is to follow the path drawn by the deep state and the military, a path of slavery and humiliation to America and not freedom and obedience to Allah alone.
Do not let the devil close your eyes and ears and deprive you of benefiting from what I will say, on the assumption that I am from the other team. I am with the pure, clear, and comprehensive Sharia of Allah, which was ruled by Muhammad (peace be upon him), Abu Bakr, Umar, and the righteous caliphs, and which has not been represented in governance in our days, and which we will remain deprived of its justice, mercy, and honor if we flee from the mistakes and shortcomings of the Islamists to the arms of the military, the remnants, and their media.
The goal of this message is to cooperate with you in knowing the Quranic reasons that enable us to take an appropriate stance in these days to avoid injustice, and to remind you of the Quranic way of dealing with news, then I invite you to discover the truth for yourself.
Warning Against Following Egyptian Media
Reasons for the Warning
Brother, a straightforward question: What prompted you to follow Egyptian channels in the first place? For me, before the recent events, when I entered shops where there were brothers from Egypt, I usually saw them following movies and songs, including their desires and displaying nudity. Do you not fear that Allah may have veiled your sight for that, and deprived you of the success to take the appropriate stance in these events?
Allah says: {O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will make for you a criterion.} What is the meaning of a criterion? Do you not fear that the trial has afflicted your heart because you have disobeyed the command of Allah? He says: {So let those who oppose His command beware lest a trial afflicts them or they are afflicted with a painful punishment.}
When the Egyptian people reach a stage where the Sunni appearance, such as the beard, is a charge in itself, and its doer is punished and humiliated if not killed, when they reach a stage where mosques are stormed and their sanctities are violated as happens in Syria, then a trial must have afflicted the hearts of many of the sons of this people who were known for their strong religious emotions and love for Allah and His Messenger.
O man, you may hear the announcer exonerating one party and accusing another, and she is adorned while you look at what is not permissible from her, so how do you expect guidance from Allah after that? How do you expect guidance from Allah after that?
The Negative Effects of Following Corrupt Media
Allah says about Pharaoh: {So he led them astray from the way, but they followed his way. Indeed, they were a people deviating.} So Pharaoh was able to laugh at his people and turn his falsehood into truth, and his rule could humiliate the necks of his people, why? Because they were simply a deviant people, so Pharaoh led them from the bridle of desires to doubts and slavery to him.
Do you not fear, O you who follow Egyptian channels with their abominations, that this will make you among the hypocrites who will be struck with a barrier between them and the believers on the Day of Judgment, with punishment on their side while mercy on the side of the believers, and the believers will call: {Were we not with you?} as in Surah Al-Hadid, and they will receive the answer: {Yes, but you...} What is the first characteristic after {but you...} that made them among the losers? {But you tempted yourselves.} You exposed yourselves to trial until your hearts were blackened.
It starts with desires, dancing, and singing, then turns into believing the deviant media and hardening your heart against your brothers from the Muslims. How much do you need guidance in this difficult time, O brother, but following desires deprives you of it, deprives you of this guidance. For Allah says in five verses: {Indeed, Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.}
Then you took your positions based on that, so you disobeyed Allah and did not fear Him, so how will He make a criterion for you, He who says: {O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will make for you a criterion.} Did you fear Allah to make a criterion for you?
The Importance of Verification and Verification of News
Prohibition of Injustice
Okay, what is the evidence that not verifying the authenticity of the news is a sin? Our Lord says: {O you who have believed, if a wicked person comes to you with information, investigate.} You will say to me: Does this mean that the media is wicked and the other party are all believers? I have no call for the other party, leave the binary division. Do not think that with this word I say to you leave the Egyptian media and listen to the media that has decided the return of Muhammad Morsi, but I say to you listen to your brothers whose cause is not Morsi or others, but they see their Islam threatened.
Listen to their evidence that the war is intended to be a war on the Islamic identity of Egypt. Listen to them so that you do not exceed in the injustice of your brothers and punish with them those who have no sin, and participate in their killing with your approval or silence, while those who kill them are the most unjust and humiliating to you.
In fact, the media full of abominations, and sometimes mocking the religion itself, is it a believing media or a wicked one? {O you who have believed, if a wicked person comes to you with information, investigate.} Therefore, it is forbidden for you to listen to one party, especially if it is wicked, then do not verify or confirm no matter how certain the news appears to you at first.
The Story of Prophet David as a Lesson
Do you not read, O brother, in Surah Sad that the Prophet David heard from one side, so the man appeared to be oppressed, his brother had ninety-nine sheep and wanted to take his only sheep, so David ruled without hearing the other party, he said: {He has certainly wronged you by asking for your sheep to his sheep.} Then he realized that he had erred in ruling without hearing the other, no matter how convincing the case seemed, so he sought forgiveness from his Lord and prostrated himself, and Allah said to him after that: {O David, indeed We have made you a successor on the earth.}
Notice He said: {People}, meaning people, and did not say believers, because it is forbidden for you to oppress any people. Assume that those who kill and arrest now are not believers, only people, meaning people it is not permissible to oppress them with ignorance, it is not permissible to oppress them with ignorance, {so you will become, for what you did, regretful.}
By Allah, O brother, if the deep state uses you to oppress your brothers, you will regret it in this world and the hereafter. Allah said about the son of Adam: {Then his soul enticed him to the murder of his brother, so he killed him and became among the losers.} Then {he became among the regretful.}
Enemies' Plots
In 2004, the American Strategic Planning Center "RAND" issued a study and report titled "Democratic Civil Islam: Partners, Resources, and Strategies." This study divides the sons of Muslims into four categories: fundamentalists, traditionalists, modernists, and secularists. It proposes striking each category with the one that follows, meaning striking the jihadists and Salafis with the Muslim Brotherhood and Sufis, then striking the Muslim Brotherhood and Sufis with the secularists and liberals.
Thus, the enemies of Islam are benefiting from what is happening now in Egypt, so beware of injustice, my brother. There are ten verses where Allah the Almighty says: "Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people" or "Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people." Disobeying Allah deprives you of discernment, so be excessive in oppressing Muslims, and oppression in turn deprives you of guidance, a snowball that grows until it takes you to the abyss.
Conclusion and Supplication
In conclusion, all I invite you to in this word is to fear Allah in the way you receive news, to protect your hearing and sight from desires because you are in dire need of discernment from Allah so that you do not get involved in injustice, then to distinguish the news and not to hear from one side, and to increase the supplication of the Prophet peace be upon him, my beloved and your beloved, the Messenger of Allah Muhammad, who used to supplicate to Allah his Lord, the Almighty, saying: "O Allah, Lord of Jibreel, Meekaeel, and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. You judge between Your slaves in matters wherein they differ. Guide me to the truth by Your leave, for You guide whom You will to a straight path."
