The Quranic text depicts a majestic scene from the Day of Judgment, where the devil (the companion) disowns the human he misled in this world, trying to shift the blame away from himself before the justice of Allah, the Most High:
"He (the companion) said, 'Our Lord, I did not make him deviate, but he was in distant error.'"
The decisive response comes from the Lord of Might and Majesty, ending the dispute after the proof has been established against the servants through the sending of the messengers and the warnings in this world:
"He (Allah) said, 'Do not dispute before Me, and I had already sent you the warning. My Word cannot be changed, and I am not unjust to the servants.'"
