The Danger of Turning Islamic Certainties into Controversial Matters

Dear brothers, it is dangerous for the certainties of Islam to turn into controversial matters in people's minds, for in this lies the loss of the religion. I say this on the occasion of the discussion that took place last week with one of the doctors, and I do not mention his name to avoid personalizing the issue and to focus on the benefit only.

Details of the Previous Discussion

The doctor said something I agreed with at the beginning, but he concluded that the polytheists who were clearly and evidently called to Islam, yet rejected it and did not embrace Islam, deserve the fire, but this does not necessarily mean they will enter it. I responded to the doctor, indicating that his statement contradicts the clear verses, the sound hadiths, and the consensus.

I was expecting the doctor to respond to the evidence with evidence and retract his statement, but this did not happen. And through one of the brothers, it was conveyed that he decided to stop the discussion from his side so that it would not turn into a debate.

The Importance of Stating the Truth

Therefore, I see it as a duty to state the truth and fulfill the trust to clarify before closing the file of the topic, especially here I emphasize, especially since many of the comments on the ongoing discussion were in the sense of "as Allah willed on the etiquette of disagreement," and many of them deviated from the main point. The message that reached some is that this matter is controversial, which the scholars of Islam did not agree upon, as evidenced by the calmness that occurred in its discussion, as some complainers call it.

Rather, I try to contribute to preserving the creed from what harms the greatest driver in the life of the Muslim, which is the difference between faith and disbelief in status, outcome, reward, and destiny. And to inform you, this is the first post since I entered the world of social media platforms that I stopped the comments feature on, preventing heated non-friendly discussion among the commentators, for the important thing is that the benefit reaches, especially since we are on the eve of the last ten days, may Allah grant us and you success in performing acceptable righteous deeds.

Since the dialogue was not completed until the end, dear, it is my duty to reiterate that this matter is not controversial, and the statement that the rejecting polytheist of Islam can be saved when the prophetic mission is established upon him is a false statement that is not considered.

Calmness in Discussion Does Not Mean Disagreement

The calmness that I adhered to in denying the doctor's statement was to spread an atmosphere of calm thinking away from any excitement or victory for individuals. However, it is necessary to understand that calmness in discussion does not contradict the denial of the statement that is responded to as a rejected statement contrary to the certainties of Islam.

Is distancing in prayer for the sake of preventing corona permissible? Or an issue in which the scholars differed in the past, such as: Is it permissible to pay Zakat al-Fitr in money instead of food? The issue we discussed contains right and wrong, right indicated by the clear verses, the sound hadiths, and the consensus, and wrong that opposes all this and does not present evidence for the people.

The Sharia Evidence on the Fate of the Polytheist

I have explained in the previous statement that those who rejected the call of Islam after it reached them in a clear and evident manner have been indicated by the evidence to enter the fire, and with clear and decisive verses that do not accept interpretation:

  • "Indeed, Allah does not forgive that partners be associated with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills."
  • "Indeed, those who deny Our verses and are too proud to accept them - the gates of Heaven will not be opened for them, nor will they enter Paradise until the camel passes through the eye of a needle. And thus do We recompense the criminals."
  • "And those who deny the signs of Allah and the meeting with Him - those despair of My mercy, and those will have a painful punishment."

There is no hope that Allah will have mercy on them by keeping them away from the fire, and the verses and hadiths in this regard are very many.

The Importance of Submitting to the Decisive Texts

By the evidence, a serious matter, and our submission, dear, and our submission to the decisive texts in this matter is not due to a lack of mercy nor an eagerness for people to enter the fire, but it is the ruling of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate, the Knower of the unseen, who commanded us, glorified be He, to believe in this ruling and to teach it, and we are not more merciful than He, glorified be He.

Rather, the clarity of this belief is necessary so that we do not deceive the disbelievers, because if we tell them that they may be saved from the torment of the fire if they remain in their disbelief, we would have deceived them and left them to destruction. This clarity is a position of mercy.

Making certainties controversial is a serious affliction, so do not lower your head to it out of a desire to be attributed to openness and breadth of vision, and fear of being labeled as extremism and monopolizing the truth.

Conclusion and Reminder

All of this, dear brothers, with the emphasis that we have not guaranteed Paradise for ourselves. Yes, the evidence also indicated that the Muslim who does not associate anything with Allah is destined for Paradise, even if he is afflicted with purification before that. But we do not affirm Paradise for our brethren, nor do we know with what we will conclude. And we know that the Muslim must add to the righteousness of belief good character, sincerity, and others. And we draw near to Allah by clarifying these concepts and calling others to Islam, hoping that He will admit us to Paradise.

I ask Allah to grant us all success in what He loves and is pleased with.

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
