CEDAW Convention - An invasion of our homes, so beware O Muslims
The CEDAW Agreement: An Invasion of Our Homes, Beware O Muslims
Introduction to the CEDAW Agreement
I will speak about another matter, and if you wish, about a specific matter. The first is about an agreement that many of us have not heard of, the CEDAW agreement. Those who have heard of it are few in number, because the media does not celebrate such matters often. The CEDAW agreement is an international agreement, and this agreement is one of several global meetings in the United Nations, which began in 1925 AD. The year 1925, and you are talking about it now? Yes, it is an extension and a continuation, it is still ongoing to this day, and it has not yet borne the fruits that they want until this moment. There are people who think far ahead, just like us.
Jordan ratified this agreement in 1992 with reservations on three articles within it. "We agree to CEDAW, but on three articles we cannot agree with them, because we have people who understand and tomorrow they will overpower us and cause us problems." These three articles are reserved, and then, O my lord, the coming days, may Allah ease them, perhaps these three articles will be removed in one way or another.
Promoting the CEDAW Agreement and Its Reality
This agreement is promoted and announced in the media. Those who promote and announce it in the media use glittering words and slogans, just as they called alcohol a spiritual drink, called usury a benefit, called theft cleverness, called fraud, bribes, and kickbacks bonuses, and so on. Similarly, they announce around this agreement many words, including for example: progress, justice, equality, participation, right, lifting oppression (of course, all of this is lifting oppression against women, and so on), lifting discrimination (and they mean against women), inequality between men and women. All of this is announced, but its reality is something else that they want through this sinful agreement.
So that we know this agreement for what it truly is, come with me as I delve with you into some of its articles and look at them and what they produce, and I will not prolong, I will say it quickly.
Articles of the CEDAW Agreement and Its Contradiction with Islamic Law
Article Two: Reference to International Charters
Article Two makes international charters a reference above the reference of Islam in personal status matters. And Allah the Almighty says: {But no, by your Lord, they can have no faith, until they make you (O Muhammad peace be upon him) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission.} The reference is to international charters, not the reference to the laws and legislations specific to the countries concerned with this agreement. Muslims have Islam? No, the state's charters are the reference. And this is a disaster, and this is a prevention of the rest of the Islam that the constitutions in Islamic countries have stipulated. The rest, meaning personal status matters, are they numerous upon us? Allah is the Greatest!
Article Three: Rejecting the Distinction of Sharia Between the Roles of Men and Women
In Article Three, it calls for rejecting the distinction of Sharia between the roles of men and women with justice. We have in Islam a relationship between men and women that is complementary, in leadership and obedience, in specific, clear, systematic matters, a complementary relationship. But they reject this and say the relationship is a partnership, a relationship of equality, no one differs from the other, absolute equality. And our Lord said: {If there were therein gods besides Allah, you would surely have found disorder in the heavens and the earth.} A god of two gods in the universe would ruin the universe, so do you want to make the husband and wife of the same degree in the family? This is ruin and disruption of the family, and ruin and disruption of the entire society. There must be consultation between them, but in the end, the matter must return to one source so that matters are in harmony and straight.
And these people, and this article also calls for absolute equality and the rejection of Sharia rulings in marriage, such as giving the dowry. Adapt, O youth, and by Allah, an opportunity to marry without a dowry! This is a partial matter, and the dowry is a failure. What is the difference between men and women? And this, in appearance, is equality and justice, but in reality, it leads to the destruction of families, their loss, and the acceleration of divorce. If you marry for free today, tomorrow you will divorce for free, as is the case in the West.
And making divorce in the hands of the man is rejected in this agreement, and putting a waiting period for the woman is rejected, no waiting period. She divorces today and marries tomorrow. Okay, this child she left after two months of marriage, to whom? It doesn't matter. And the division of inheritance is also rejected by this agreement according to the Sharia law. Allah the Almighty says: {Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend from their wealth.} But they want to abolish this with this agreement.
Article Six: Women Working in Any Field
Article Six states that there is no objection to women working in any job. Any job, even if it is in prostitution, may Allah honor you. She is free, why prevent her? Her father, why prevent her? What is his right? Her brother, why prevent her? What is his right? Her husband, why prevent her? What is his relation? She has complete, absolute freedom. This is the freedom, this is the justice, this is the equality that these people call for. But with a condition, and the group has justice, what is the condition? It is allowed for her to work in prostitution, may Allah honor you, but it is forbidden to exploit her. Ah, as long as there is no exploitation, the work is honorable, noble, and so on, as is the case with many terms.
Article Ten: Spreading Sexual Culture Among Children
Article Ten encourages the CEDAW (sweet is the CEDAW) to do what? To spread sexual culture among children. Who are the children in international laws in the United Nations and international organizations? The child was under the age of eighteen. Under 18 is a child. So now, if we look at our situation or our children, and he tells you, is it reasonable that I am a child at the age of 17? Ah, in their measure, you are still a child.
Okay, children are encouraged (I do not say allowed) to teach them and to make them understand from the aspect of knowledge, and we do not leave them ignorant of matters, and we allow them to watch films, programs, and information, and so on. And the child is created with a love for curiosity, and this is what Allah the Almighty has made in the child to learn. If we teach them sexual culture, the meaning of curiosity will drive them to experimentation, exploration, and inquiry. And since freedom is allowed and open to everyone, this means encouragement for the sons and daughters of Muslims to engage in forbidden practices. And we will know that marriage is forbidden under the age of 18, meaning there is no way for this exploration and experimentation except through unlawful means. In other words: marriage is forbidden under 18, all forbidden relationships are allowed under the age of 18. Sufficient for me is Allah against the wrongdoers.
Article Twelve: Health Services for Women Without Considering Marriage
Article Ten is the one we mentioned. Article Twelve: the commitment to providing health services to women without considering whether they are married or not. What does this mean? Why this sentence: "without considering whether they are married or not"? It means that a woman goes to the hospital or to the doctor, pregnancy test not pregnancy, giving birth to others, it has no relation. Does he ask her if she is married or not? It is forbidden to ask, it is forbidden to intervene in this matter. She may be pregnant without marriage, because for them, the family is anyone who lives under one roof, so this is a family. Okay, this one roof may be two men in a marriage relationship, allowed. It may be two girls, allowed. It may be two friends living in one family in one house, a family. So, the family for them has no relation to the legal bond that exists in the definition of the family for us Muslims.
Article Fifteen: A Woman's Travel and Residence Without Her Guardian's Consent
Article Fifteen calls for a woman to travel and reside wherever she pleases, regardless of her guardian's (father, brother, or husband) consent. She may reside with her companion for a week, two weeks, a month, two months, or a year. You cannot prevent her. Is she not over 18? If so, she has complete independence and freedom. You cannot prevent her. God is the Greatest! She can bring her friend to the house, and you cannot prevent her.
We know that a large number of Muslim children flee from the West with their families when their children grow up a bit. They flee, leave their jobs, and leave. Why? They said: Our children want to get out from under our control and want to live the life of the West in indecency, the forbidden, and the abominations. Therefore, we preferred to return to our countries to be saved from these calamities and disasters. They want to bring these calamities to you in your country. Don't worry, we are bringing the West to you with its culture, mind, and morals. Where should we flee? Flee to God, or let them flee wherever God wills.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "A woman should not travel for three days except with a mahram" in Bukhari. This hadith is nullified by the Sidawi law. And many verses and hadiths they want to abolish with this agreement.
Article Sixteen: Secular Civil Marriage
Article Sixteen and I conclude with this article: It calls for the adoption of secular civil marriage. There is nothing called personal status and a journal of sovereign rulings derived from the law of the Hanafi school of jurisprudence. This is rejected. The secular civil law is the source of legislation and the source of rulings in this agreement. This means it allows the marriage of a non-Muslim to a Muslim woman. She is free, God willing, she can marry a Druze, a Sikh, a Nagi, anyone. It also prevents polygamy, which is an attack. God is the Greatest! And it abolishes the woman's waiting period, rejects the man's authority over his wife, and rejects the guardian's consent to the marriage of his ward. Do you want to attend, Dad? Do you want to? You are free. But whether you agree or not, it's not your business, it's mine. When you got married, did you consult me? No, you didn't consult me, Dad. So, it means I won't consult you either, and your opinion is not important. If you want to attend, I will be honored by your kind attendance. This is what they want to reach for Muslims. God the Almighty says: {And do not marry polytheistic women until they believe. And a believing slave woman is better than a polytheist, even though she might please you}.
Jordan's Position on the CEDAW Convention
By the way, the Kingdom of Morocco had previously entered this agreement with reservations, then canceled its reservations last year. Today, we hear in Jordan a sentence said at a high level above, this sentence was said in the following text: "Jordan is committed to the full implementation of CEDAW and we will lift its reservations on it."
O you who say this sentence, you do not have the right to say this, because when you say this, you rule over us to sever our religion, creed, and Sharia. O you who say this sentence, yesterday you raised prices and today you pave the way for lifting reservations on CEDAW, which means an attack on our religion and creed. If people are silent about raising the price of a gas cylinder, they will not be silent and will not allow the immunity of the Book and the Sunnah to be lifted. Let the speaker review himself and review his words, for no one has immunity after the Book of God and the Sunnah of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him. The mentioned sentence is rejected, whoever says it.
Then I ask a question that is not innocent and say: If the price increase coincides with the lifting of reservations on CEDAW, is it expected that this will create an atmosphere that encourages vice? I mean, if a woman loses the provider, the dowry, the maintenance, and becomes dependent on herself for maintenance in an atmosphere of inflation and price increases, does this not mean that the general atmosphere pushes her to work in vice?
If they do not know that, let them know. But if they know that and intend it, then I can only recall the saying of God the Almighty: {Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread among those who have believed for them is a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you do not know}.
