In the name of Allah, all praise is due to Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. Brothers and sisters, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings, and welcome to the tenth session of the "Tibyan for Everything" competition.
Before starting today's questions, we announce the names of the leaders in the results so far:
Today we have fourteen easy questions from parts (nineteen and twenty), and due to the ease of the questions, we hope you will hurry to put the answers.
Question: Four consecutive verses that gather four great virtues of the Noble Quran, what are these verses from today's parts?
Answer: Allah the Most High says in Surah Ash-Shu'ara: {And indeed, it is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. * Which the trustworthy spirit has brought down. * Upon your heart, that you may be of the warners. * In a clear Arabic tongue.}
The Explanatory Note: This note is quoted from the interpretation of As-Sa'di; where we notice that this Quran has descended from the Lord of the worlds, and it was carried by the best of the angels (Jibril, peace be upon him), upon the purest heart and the best of creation (Muhammad, peace be upon him), and with the best of tongues and the most eloquent (the Arabic tongue).
Question: Spreading corruption and destruction does not require a large number, so do not underestimate the corruptors even if they are few. Mention a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: Allah the Most High says about the people of Saleh: {And in the city, there were nine people who caused corruption in the land and did not reform.}
The Explanatory Note: These nine caused the destruction of their entire people; because the people did not take them to task but left them to cause corruption and hamstring the she-camel, so Allah took everyone to account for their transgression. Do not underestimate evil in its beginnings, and as it is said: "Adornment is a severe and dangerous disease... it spreads and extends like the plague and scabies."
Question: Allah warns people of calamities, but some of them have hardened hearts and do not take heed, but rather take calamities as an opportunity to tarnish the reputation of reformers and accuse them of being the cause of them. Mention a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: Allah the Most High says: {They said, "You have brought us evil and those with you."}
The Explanatory Note: It was the habit of the corrupt people that when a messenger came to them to warn them, they would mock the warning. If Allah afflicted them with something, they would attribute the evil to the prophet and those who followed him, instead of taking heed of Allah's warning, glory be to Him.
Question: The greatest confirmation of blessings is to stay away from aiding the oppressors. Mention a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: Musa, peace be upon him, said: {He said, "My Lord, for the favor You have bestowed upon me, I will never be a supporter of the criminals."}
The Explanatory Note: Musa, peace be upon him, wanted to sustain the blessing and thank it by disassociating himself from aiding the criminals. Often, a person errs by seeking the confirmation of the blessing (such as wealth or position) from other than its Giver, so he resorts to flattering the oppressors and remaining silent about them for fear of his status, thus being deprived of the blessing due to disobedience.
Question: If you do a favor for someone, do not ask them to pray for you, but rather turn to Allah, seeking His help with your deed. Mention a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: Allah the Most High says about Musa, peace be upon him: {Then he watered for them and withdrew to the shade, saying, "My Lord, indeed I am, for the good which You have sent down to me, in need."}
The Explanatory Note: Musa, peace be upon him, watered the two women but did not ask them for a reward or a prayer, but rather turned to Allah, the Most High, with his request. This is the perfection of not being grateful to people, that you do good and seek the reward from Allah alone.
Question: The construction of luxurious buildings is not praiseworthy if it lacks real benefit and usefulness. Mention the beginning of two consecutive verses that refer to this meaning.
Answer: Allah the Most High says, narrating from Hud, peace be upon him: {Do you build with every wind a sign to play? * And take fortresses, perhaps you may live forever.}
The Explanatory Note: Allah described this as playing because it is a waste of time and effort of the bodies without benefit. The lesson is not in the grandeur of the building and its decoration, for the Prophet's mosque was very simple, and from it, the world was opened, and the real civilization was built.
Question: It is the policy of the oppressors to divide their subjects to facilitate control over them. Mention three words that remind you of this meaning.
Answer: {And He made their people into factions.}
The Explanatory Note: This is the policy of Pharaoh; he divided the people and made them warring factions so that everyone would feel they needed him, and that without him, they would destroy each other, and this is the policy of the oppressors in every time and place.
Question: One of the signs of the truthfulness of Muhammad's prophethood is the good character of his followers and their distinction. Where do you find the indirect reference to this meaning?
Answer: Allah the Most High says: {And the poets - the wanderers follow them.}
The Explanatory Note: Since the wanderers are those who follow the poets, and since the companions of the Prophet were the best of people and the most virtuous and intelligent, this is evidence that Muhammad is not a poet but a true prophet, because the type of followers indicates the one they follow.
Question: A word in a verse that contains great hope for believers to trust in Allah's promise, as if they have the right to demand this bliss as a reward for their deeds. What is this word?
Answer: The word {Mas'ulan} in Surah Al-Furqan. {For them therein is whatever they desire, abiding. It is a promise binding upon your Lord to be asked.}
The Explanatory Note: This is from the generosity of Allah, the Most High; as if the believers can ask Allah to fulfill His promise which He promised them as a reward for their deeds, and it is a promise that will not be broken.
Question: If Allah leaves the servant to himself, he approves of his persistence in misguidance. Mention a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: The disbelievers said: {Why did we not have patience with it?} From His saying, the Most High: {Indeed, they almost misled us from our gods had we not been patient with it.}
The Explanatory Note: These people were left by Allah to themselves, so they thought that their persistence in worshiping idols was a virtue and patience to be praised, while the true patience is a favor from Allah upon the believers.
Question: Your habit of being tempted by appearances (such as wealth and position) may prevent you from following the truth and its people if you do not see anything of that with them. Mention a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: Allah the Most High says in Surah Al-Furqan: {And when they see you, they take you not except for mockery. Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger?}
The Explanatory Note: The disbelievers mocked the Prophet because they were used to exalting worldly appearances. When they saw a messenger who did not own treasures or palaces, this turned them away from following the truth.
Question: Mocking the truth and its people may lead to being deprived of guidance and falling into sudden punishment. Mention a verse that indicates this meaning from Surah Ash-Shu'ara.
Answer: The words of Allah the Most High: "They have certainly disbelieved, so there will come to them the news of what they used to ridicule."
Explanatory Note: Mockery is an advanced degree of disbelief. The mocker does not merely reject the truth but ridicules it. This denial leads to blindness of insight until the news of what they mocked comes to them as a real, tangible fact when regret will be of no avail.
Question: At the end of the stories of the prophets in Surah Ash-Shu'ara, there is a directive to the Prophet (peace be upon him) to rely on Allah with specific attributes that suit the state of weakness and confrontation. Mention this verse.
Answer: The words of Allah the Most High: "And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful."
Explanatory Note: The combination of might and mercy here brings great reassurance; He is "Exalted in Might" who is not overcome and is able to support His allies and overpower His enemies, and He is "Merciful" to His believing servants, showing kindness to them in their hardships. This is the true sustenance for the caller in the face of disbelief.
Question: Ibrahim (peace be upon him) mentioned that wealth and children do not benefit in the Hereafter except with one condition. Mention the verses in which this meaning is mentioned.
Answer: The words of Allah the Most High: "A Day when wealth will not avail, nor children * Except one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
Explanatory Note: A sound heart is one that is free from shirk, free from malice and hatred, and free from desires and doubts that contradict the command of Allah. The criterion on the Day of Judgment is not what your hands possessed in this world, but what your heart contained of faith and sincerity.
With this, we have completed the questions of the tenth session. We bless the brothers who topped the answers today, and remind you that the highest goal of this competition is "to ponder His verses," for pondering is what revives the hearts and rectifies deeds.
We thank brother Abdul Hamid and brother Abu Nabil for following the results, and we will meet you in the next session, God willing, with new parts of the Book of Allah.
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
