Peace be upon you and the mercy of God, brothers and sisters. In times of calamity, it is befitting for us to supplicate with great, established supplications from our Prophet, peace be upon him. First, as an act of worship to God the Most High, for supplication is worship, and second, in the hope that God will remove these trials from us. I will mention to you some of these supplications:
"O God, I seek refuge in You from falling, collapsing, drowning, and fire. I seek refuge in You from the devil confusing me at the time of death. I seek refuge in You from dying while turning away from Your path. I seek refuge in You from dying in a state of ignorance."
And if one wishes to supplicate for their family, they can say: "O God, I seek refuge in You and I seek refuge for my family in You from falling, collapsing, drowning, and fire..." and complete the supplication.
"O God, I seek refuge in You from the removal of Your blessings, the change of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your wrath."
"I seek refuge in the perfect words of God, which no righteous or wicked person can transcend, from the evil of what He has created, made, and formed; from the evil of what descends from the sky; from the evil of what ascends therein; from the evil of what is planted in the earth; from the evil of what emerges therefrom; from the evil of the trials of the night and the day; from the evil of every visitor except a visitor who comes with good, O Most Merciful."
The Messenger of God, peace be upon him, would seek refuge from the severity of trials, reaching misery, bad destiny, and the schadenfreude of enemies. So you should say: "O God, I seek refuge in You from the severity of trials, reaching misery, bad destiny, and the schadenfreude of enemies."
And when in distress, he would say, peace be upon him: "There is no god but Allah, the Great, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but Allah, the Lord of the heavens, the earth, and the Honorable Throne."
Peace be upon you and the mercy of God.
