How to Remove Annoying Photos and Ads from Facebook
Introduction: The Problem and Reasons for the Solution
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. One of the recent complaints about Facebook is the section titled "People to subscribe to" (People you may want to follow), which shows celebrities asking you to subscribe to their pages and follow them.
Similarly, the section "People you may know" (People you may know) sometimes shows strange accounts and completely inappropriate photos. Additionally, some people complain about the ads that appear on the side, which use unregulated images to attract attention.
God willing, in this video, we will learn how to prevent these ads and prevent the appearance of these annoying suggestions. I will explain the method on the "Firefox" (Firefox) and "Google Chrome" (Google Chrome) browsers.
First: Implementation Steps on Firefox Browser
Before starting, we notice that the follow-up suggestions and ads are visible on the page. To remove them, we follow these steps:
- Go to the Tools menu and select Add-ons. (If the Firefox button is visible instead of the top menu, click on it and select Add-ons).
- In the add-ons search box (Search), type: Adblock Plus.
- We install the first add-on that appears to us and wait until it is downloaded and installed on the browser.
- This add-on alone is sufficient to remove the ads, but it will not automatically remove the follow-up suggestions (People to subscribe to) or (People you may know).
Manually Hiding Annoying Elements:
To hide the remaining parts, we need a helper add-on called Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus:
- We install this helper add-on.
- We make sure that the add-ons bar (Add-on Bar) appears at the bottom; if it is not visible, we right-click at the top and select the option Add-on Bar.
- We click on the "Adblock Plus" icon in the bottom bar and select Select an element to hide.
- We move the mouse until a red box appears surrounding the part we want to hide completely (such as People to subscribe to), then we click and select Add element hiding rule. This part will disappear immediately.
Second: Implementation Steps on Google Chrome Browser
The idea in the Chrome browser is the same as the one applied in Firefox, with a slight difference in the implementation method:
- Go to the key symbol (or three dots) at the top, then select Tools and then Extensions.
- Click on Browse the gallery or Get more extensions (depending on the version you have).
- Search for the Adblock Plus add-on and install it.
- After installation, the add-on icon will appear at the top. We notice that the ads have already disappeared, but the "People you may know" suggestions may appear more prominently.
- Click on the add-on icon at the top and select Create Easy Filter.
- Move the mouse until the arrow defines the part you want to hide completely, then click and select Add.
With these steps, we have finished cleaning the page on Firefox and Chrome browsers, and blocking annoying photos and ads.
