Criticism of the Term "The First Shot" and Its Field Effects
Iyad Al-Qunaybi, my brothers, when he spoke of what is called "the first shot," one of the effects of this shot was that more than 1,000 mujahideen of our brothers, and the cream of our brothers, were killed in the Levant.
Some narratives indicate that the number reached 4,000, while other narratives mention that on the first day alone, 1,200 brothers fell... from the cream of the youth who were facing the regime. So, this fatwa or this theory came to direct the weapon towards the chests of the brothers instead of their attacking enemy.
The Catastrophic Consequences of Unrestrained Theorizing
The speech that was launched under the name of "waiting for the first shot" was not just a passing opinion, but was a legal cover for a fitna that consumed the green and the dry, and caused the shedding of innocent blood without right. Based on this foundation, the sanctities were permitted and fronts that were steadfast against the regime were lost, which led to a great retreat in the gains of the Syrian jihad in that stage.
It is the duty of those who lead in guidance and fatwa to realize the consequences of their words, especially in emergencies and fitan, because the word in such circumstances may be more deadly than bullets, and this is what we saw as a tangible reality through the shocking figures of the victims who fell as a result of this misguidance.
