My Daughter is Not More Important Than the Children of Muslims
My Daughter Is Not More Important Than the Children of the Muslims
Introduction: Comparing Personal Affliction and the Affliction of the Ummah
In besieged areas like Ghouta and others, one sees his daughter wither day after day. In a similar situation, the difference is that my daughter receives special medical care, and her illness is a decree I can only face with patience. While the one who sees his daughter wither from hunger and siege, his pain is mixed with the oppression of men. It is also a decree he accepts from Allah, but he has the right to be angry at the oppressors and to be furious. And how difficult it is to oppress men who prevent them from crossing borders set by the occupier long ago, so they die slowly and their fathers and mothers see them in this condition, and they cannot soften the hard hearts. And how difficult it is to oppress men!
Yes, Sarah was patient, but in the Ummah there are thousands of children who are more patient than her, and their tragedies are greater than her illness beyond comparison. And in the Ummah there are thousands of fathers and mothers who have borne more than what I and Sarah's mother have borne beyond comparison.
Thousands of Sarahs and Their Parents
I say this because I am ashamed that a child or his father from these patient ones should know what Sarah has received of attention, and he says to himself: "But my Sarah has no one to cry for her." The afflicted, my brothers, is hurt most by the feeling that he is forgotten, they share his concern and wish to do something for him. I say all this so that we know that in the Ummah there are thousands of Sarahs, and thousands of fathers and mothers who have borne more than her parents, and that the Ummah of Muhammad, peace be upon him, is a birth of good, so let not the abundance of evil deceive you nor prevent you from seeing this good. And do not listen to those who want to set for you examples from outside it as if it lacked its examples. But by Allah, among those who console me is one whom I am ashamed of because I know that his affliction is greater than mine. In the Ummah, there are thousands of patient ones who have not been highlighted, no poems have been composed for them, and their news has not been spread.
Reminder and Advice
And I say this also to remind myself and every Muslim who has a heart, so beware, O servant of Allah, lest you forget as you have contributed to the making of forgotten stories of suffering, and it will be said to you on the Day of Judgment: "(So today We forget you as you forgot the meeting of this, your Day.)" And know, my brothers, that being concerned with the suffering of Muslims is one of the greatest causes of patience and steadfastness when you are afflicted with personal affliction. This meaning we, as people, take it with Sarah and her brothers when my daughter was afflicted with the separation of her father from her for supporting the issues of her Ummah, so Sarah raised a sign saying: "My father, do not stop moving forward and say: My Ummah is dearer to me than my children."
O Allah, have mercy on my daughter and the children of the Muslims. O Allah, relieve the distress of our besieged and displaced children and their fathers and mothers, and make for our Ummah a near relief and an exit. And praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
