Introduction to Numerical Miracle

After my talk titled "Numerical Miracle: Reality or Illusion," some beloved brothers objected, and others write to me with these objections, asking for my opinion so they can be steadfast regarding the topic of the numerical miracle. Here, I will not delve deeply into the subject because it is clear that we need to agree with our objecting brothers on the premises, the most important of which are: defining the miracle, what constitutes the challenge in the Quran, discussing the scientific method and the necessity of it being consistent and not selective, then discussing the examples they mention one by one. This is not the place for a long detailed discussion.

Rather, I say in points, dear esteemed audience: First, the most important goal of the phrase "Numerical Miracle: Reality or Illusion" is to deny that what is presented of numerical coincidences is of the nature of a miracle, and to deny that future unseen predictions are based on it. However, I clearly stated that this does not prevent what is correct from being called "subtleties," for the door of subtleties is easier than that of miracles. If we agree on this, the subsequent disagreement will be minor.

Distinguishing Between Correct and Incorrect Numerical Coincidences

Now, what is correct among these coincidences and what is not? This is a matter of dispute and is not easy to determine.

Example of the Word "Day"

As for the word "day," what some brothers did in counting the days, I was aware of it beforehand: "365, 365, oh Eyad, it repeats 365 times, come let us prove it to you," and they remain with the calculations. People, I originally in my talk had referred to an article on the Islam Question and Answer website, which did not deny that the word "day" under your conditions repeats 365 times, but I and the website object to your inclusion of some forms of the word and the exclusion of others without a clear method. That is, we object to the conditions you set until you reached 365 times.

If you say that the word "day" is repeated 365 times in the Quran, we say to you: No, that is not correct. But when you set selective conditions, yes, but these conditions have no justification, a predetermined result, and based on it, you exclude some forms of the word and include others.

The article I referred to, dear esteemed audience, contains the following text: "Dr. Fahd Al-Rumi mentioned examples of Dr. Abdul Razzaq Noufal's selective choice of words to achieve numerical balance, including his statement: The word 'day' is mentioned in the Quran 365 times, equal to the number of days in a year. He included in the evidence the words 'the day' and 'a day,' but excluded 'your day,' 'their day,' and 'that day.' The lunar year is not 365 days, but 354, not 355 days. Therefore, Allah the Almighty said: {It is He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a radiant light and determined for it phases that you may know the number of years and calculation. Allah has not created this except in truth.} That is, the moon's phases are determined so that you may know the number of years and calculation, and He did not say that about the sun. Therefore, the months of Hajj, fasting, and the Islamic festivals and seasons are based on the moon's calculation and its course, as indicated by Ibn Al-Qayyim."

All of this makes me not accept considering the number of repetitions of the word "day" under the category of subtleties in the first place, let alone it being a miracle. By the way, I thank Dr. Adel Sabbour, may Allah reward him with good, for his observation regarding the "Verses" program. I had recommended this program, but Dr. Adel pointed out that, for example, when you search for the word "day," the program counts the word "Qayyum" among the results, so we need to be precise before we tell people that the word "day" is repeated so many times.

Example of the Word "Month"

12, 12. On what basis do we include the dual and plural forms sometimes and exclude them at other times? Those who advocate for the numerical miracle, when they wanted to show agreement between the number of times "angels" and "devils" are mentioned, included in the calculation "two angels," "an angel," "an angel," "his angels," or "his angels," while here in "month" they excluded "two months," "months," and "months." So our question, dear esteemed audience: On what basis do we include the inflections sometimes and exclude them at other times? And we include some inflections and exclude others?

The word "month" was repeated twelve times as a single word, beautiful. Is this a miracle? Is this something that challenges humans to bring something like it?

Conclusion

Therefore, in conclusion, dear esteemed audience, regardless of the detailed examples, the general idea remains that the repetition fit is sometimes based on conditions that have no consistent basis, and what is correct from it is not something that humans cannot do, but it does not exceed being among the subtleties. The miracles of the Quran are clearer, more wondrous, stronger, and more eloquent. As for the door of subtleties, the matter is easier therein.

Finally, we ask Allah the Almighty to guide us all to what He loves and is pleased with. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
