Peace be upon you and the mercy of God, dear brothers, may God keep you and guide you, and welcome to you in the first episode of the competition "Tbyan to Everything" in its third season. We ask God to bless us and you in this blessed month, and that He benefits us with what we learn.
Dear brothers, as we have accustomed you in previous seasons, we present the question or the specific meaning or situation that you may encounter, then we ask: What is the verse that answers this question or indicates this meaning? The requirement is to provide the verse, or part of it (for example, the first three words).
One of the righteous was told, "I find myself hating death," so he said to the questioner, "Do you have wealth?" He said, "Yes," so he said, "Present it; for when a man presents his wealth, he loves to be joined with it." Similarly, when a person presents good deeds, he loves to be joined with them and to see the joy of God Almighty with him.
Question: Mention a verse that indicates this meaning.
Correct Answer: (Answered by Sister Asma Shahin): God Almighty says: "Say, 'If the abode of the Hereafter with Allah is for you alone, exclusive of all people, then long for death if you are truthful.'" God commanded His Prophet to challenge the Jews; if you are truthful in your claim that Paradise is for you alone, then long for death so that you may reach this bliss and rest from the gloom of this world, but they were the most eager people for life.
Some rejecters argue by saying, "God has decreed misguidance for us, and if He willed, He would have guided us," but the truth is that man himself acquires the deprivation of God's success due to the work of his heart or limbs.
Question: Mention a verse from the first part that indicates that man acquires deprivation of guidance through his actions (in a similar meaning to God's saying: "And they say, 'Our hearts are unyielding.'").
Correct Answer: God Almighty says: "In their hearts is disease, so God increased their disease; and they will have a painful punishment for what they used to falsify." They had a disease in their hearts that they did not treat nor worked to correct, so the retribution was of the same kind as their action, that God increased their disease.
Some servants, when calamity is removed from them and they are not immediately punished, feel secure from God's deception and return to what they were doing.
Question: Mention two consecutive verses in which God mentions the state of people who felt secure from God's punishment after He removed it from them.
Correct Answer: (Answered by Brother Mazen Abdullah): God Almighty says: "And remember when We took your covenant and raised above you the mountain, 'Take what We have given you with strength and remember what is in it that you may be righteous. Then you turned away after that, so if it were not for the favor of God upon you and His mercy, you would have been among the losers.'" After the mountain was raised above them as a threat, God removed this calamity from them, so they broke their covenant and turned away.
Whoever leaves what benefits him is afflicted with busying himself with what harms him; whoever leaves the truth is afflicted with falsehood, and whoever leaves the worship of the Merciful is afflicted with the worship of idols.
Question: Mention a verse from the first part that indicates that whoever rejects God's Book is afflicted with following falsehood.
Correct Answer: (Answered by Brother Ibrahim): God Almighty says: "And when there came to them a messenger from God, confirming what was with them, a faction of those who were given the Scripture threw the Book of God behind their backs as if they did not know. And they followed what the devils chanted concerning the kingdom of Solomon..." When they turned away from the true Book, their retribution was to be preoccupied with magic and following what the devils invented.
There are two words in a verse from the first part that bring comfort to the Prophet (peace be upon him), reassurance to him, and a cut to the Jews' ambitions to harm him.
Question: What are these two words, and what is their story?
Correct Answer: (Answered by Sister Mervat Mahmoud): The two words are: "before." In God's saying: "Say, 'Why do you kill the prophets of God before? If you are believers.'" God indicates that their killing of the prophets was in the past, and in this, there is reassurance to the Prophet (peace be upon him) that they will not be able to repeat this act with him, thus cutting off their ambitions to harm him.
If God entrusts the servant to himself, he perishes, and there is a word in the first part that expresses God's abandonment of the hypocrites and their failure.
Question: Mention this word.
Correct Answer: (Answered by Sister Duaa Ahmed): The word is: "and left them." God Almighty says: "Their example is like that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, God took away their light and left them in darkness, not seeing." The word "left them" shows the extent of divine abandonment of these hypocrites.
The people of falsehood, no matter how different their times are, produce the same words and accusations as if they had conspired together.
Question: Mention a word or phrase from the first part that conveys the meaning of the similarity of the hearts of tyrants and their conspiracy on falsehood.
Correct Answer: (Answered by Sister Nada): God Almighty says: "Their hearts are alike." That is, the hearts of the polytheists of Arabia resembled the hearts of those before them from other nations, so when the hearts became alike in tyranny, their words and deeds became alike in fighting the truth.
Finally, we apologize to our brothers on Facebook if there was a delay in broadcasting, and the brothers will monitor all the answers. We bid you farewell in good health, and peace be upon you and the mercy of God and His blessings.
