Rather, Stay in Jordan with Your Dignity and We Are All Your Brothers
Introduction to Abu Muhammad
Abu Muhammad is a dear brother I have known for a long time in Jordan. He is of good character, generous, and loved by both good and bad people. Unfortunately, he has a brother who is completely different in character and qualities.
Incident of Insulting the Egyptian Brother
One day, this brother of his insulted an Egyptian who works in Jordan. The Egyptian, in front of people, said with anger: "A man has nothing but his dignity. We came from Egypt with nothing but our dignity. If even this is lost, I do not want Jordan, I will return with my dignity intact."
I imagine this Egyptian brother sitting, lamenting his situation, lamenting his country, a land of riches plundered, forcing its people to leave in search of a living. He longs to live in his country among his family, his people, his parents, his brothers, his wife, and his children, as others live. He wants to return and not face such a situation.
But he remembers his parents who are sick and in need of treatment, his small children like chicks in need of clothing and food. Thoughts swirl in his mind, and he does not know what to do.
The Noble Stance of Abu Muhammad
The news reached the righteous brother Abu Muhammad that his brother had insulted a Muslim brother, and he heard what the Egyptian had said with a broken heart. So, Abu Muhammad went to him, reached the place where he worked, and said: "Peace be upon you." The Egyptian replied: "And peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah."
Then Abu Muhammad took off his shoe and gave it to the Egyptian: "Hit my head to take revenge on him." The Egyptian was shocked: "No, my dear sheikh, what do you have to do with this matter?"
Abu Muhammad said: "I am his brother. I heard you say: 'A man has nothing but his dignity, and if I lose my dignity, I do not want Jordan.' No, you will stay in Jordan with your dignity, and we are all your brothers, and no one will dare to harm your dignity."
The Egyptian threw the shoe and bent over Abu Muhammad's head, kissing it, and the sadness lifted from his heart when he saw the meaning of brotherhood in faith, and saw in practice: "The believers are but brothers."
Conclusion and Reflections
May Allah preserve you, Abu Muhammad, and I do not hesitate to mention his name except for reasons, otherwise, many followers in Jordan would know him.
And I say in conclusion, my brothers: This is an act of worship by which we draw closer to Allah, that we make our Muslim brothers who are strangers in the land feel loved and appreciated, and we strengthen their resolve if it is broken, and we make them feel that the artificial borders mean nothing to us.
If our enemy has torn the body of our nation, then it is our duty to work on healing the wounds of this body with good words and good treatment, not to act according to the plans of our enemies. And whoever does wrong from any country, no burdened soul shall bear the burden of another.
We ask Allah to unite the Muslims and rectify their condition. And peace be upon you.
