The Brutality of Christopher Columbus in Hispaniola

Christopher Columbus, one of the great European heroes, arrived on the island of Hispaniola. The native inhabitants welcomed him warmly, embraced him, and treated him with wonderful hospitality. However, his soldiers kidnapped children from their mothers' breasts and smashed their heads against rocks. Children were thrown alive to feed his dogs. Women's breasts were cut off.

Columbus decided to hang 13 of the natives in Hispaniola to re-enact the crucifixion of Christ, along with the apostles. While it is true that most of the people there died from diseases that the Europeans inadvertently brought, many others were driven to death by overwork, direct killing, and starvation after their resources were stripped away.

Columbus insisted that everyone bring him a certain amount of gold, and those who failed had their hands cut off. Some were sent back to their villages with their hands and noses tied around their necks after his soldiers had severed them. What he did there set the pattern for the genocide that nearly wiped out all the indigenous peoples of America.

Their number was 100 million before Columbus arrived. By the 19th century, this number had dwindled to less than a million across the Americas. This was openly supported by respected figures such as George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, who wrote about the necessity of exterminating the indigenous peoples of America.

The Brutality of the British Colonial Project

In Britain, we present the colonial project as being about teaching the natives table manners and double-entry bookkeeping. In reality, this project caused the deaths of 29 million people. All relief efforts were banned except for hard labor in work camps, where the inmates received the same food rations as the inmates of Buchenwald, and where the mortality rate was 94% annually. All of this was done in the name of free-market liberal capitalism.

The Brutality of British Colonialism in Kenya

In Kenya, shortly after World War II, there was an uprising by the Kikuyu people who wanted to reclaim their lands. The Kikuyu were rounded up into concentration camps in fortified villages, which included almost the entire population of over a million people.

People were systematically tortured to death. They invented a new type of vice, the purpose of which was first to crush the men's testicles and then cut them off. They raped the women with spears. They raped the men. Similarly, one of the preferred techniques was to push sand up the rectum with a stick. Sometimes they wrapped them in barbed wire and kicked them around the camp until they bled to death. Some British soldiers boasted about this. This happened in living memory.

The Colonial Secretary lied about it. The documents that recorded it were burned.
