The Events of France and the Statement That United the Muslims' Word

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.

Introduction

Noble people, yesterday a statement was issued regarding the measures being taken in France against Islam and its people. It was signed by hundreds of scholars, callers to Islam, celebrities, businessmen, and academics. It is a noble initiative, by the grace of Allah, that the Muslims unite on a great noble demand of this kind.

The statement clarifies what the Muslim should do regarding these measures, so that he is not passive and negligent in defending his religion, but rather a supporter of Allah, His Messenger, and his religion. We ask you, noble people, to read it and share it among your acquaintances, and to sign it as soon as your name is placed, and that we all adhere to what is stated in it.

The Importance of Defending the Religion

And we remind you of the words of Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, in a great and precious speech, when he said:

What religion and what good is there in one who sees the sacred limits of Allah being violated, His boundaries being transgressed, his religion being abandoned, and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, being shunned, yet he remains cold-hearted, silent, a mute devil, just as the one who speaks with falsehood is a speaking devil. It is enough for his disgrace that those who, when their leadership and food are safe, do not care about what happens to the religion. If their personal interests are touched, they say: "What do you want to do, the eye sees and the hand is short, there is no power nor strength except with Allah." If the matter reaches their personal interests, they give and strive, they find and exert effort, and they use the three levels of denouncement according to their ability and capacity.
