Is there scientific evidence of God's existence?

The answer is short and simple: what science points to most is God. You might ask: where? Show me God! Or let me hear God! We would say: you didn't ask, do we see or hear God as we see or hear tangible things? If that were your question, we would say: of course not! But you asked: does science point to God?

The Nature of Science and Evidence

Science is composed of sensory perception and reason. Man is not a deaf machine or a camera with which we capture images and then look at its screen, do we see God in it? Rather, man analyzes sensory inputs with his mind and comes up with results. This process begins from the first moments of his childhood and progresses with his growth. Even animals infer from sensory perceptions and connect the effect with the cause. So, it learns from the smell of food that there is food behind it; so it searches for it. And some of them cut the effect like a dog, so it searches for the owner of this effect.

If you see a bitten apple with traces of human teeth, you know that there is a human who bit it. This is science, even though you did not see this human! If you hear a beautiful song, you know that there is someone who sings it who sang it! Indeed, these are obvious sciences, and because of their obviousness, people do not call them science; because the word science brings to mind the application of contemplation and analysis, which is not needed in such matters.

The Innate Principle of Causality

Every event has a cause. This is a mental, innate, obvious principle that does not require teaching or intelligence. And we act according to the law of causality in all our movements, so we eat because food is a cause of satisfying hunger, and we drink because water is a cause of satisfying thirst, and we resort to sleep as a cause of rest, and we work as a cause of earning a living.

With this principle of causality, you learn that for yourself, and for the universe around you, there is a Creator, a Sustainer who created the universe, prepared it for life, perfected its details, and regulated its laws. His power's effects appear in yourself and in the movements of the entities around you.

So the question: Is there evidence of God's existence? is an imprecise question; because there is nothing that does not indicate the existence of God. If you entered a house that is not yours, sat on a sofa in it, and ate from cooked food on the table in front of you, would you then ask - if you were reasonable - is there evidence that this house has a builder? And that this food has a cook? And that this sofa has a maker? Is there evidence that any of these things happened by the act of a doer? Wouldn't your question at that time be provocative?!

Quranic Evidence of God's Existence

Allah the Almighty says: "Say, 'Look at what is in the heavens and the earth.' But the signs and warnings will not benefit a people who do not believe." [Yunus:101]. "What is in the heavens and the earth" is general and comprehensive. Everything in them points to Allah and His attributes. But those who have a problem with believing in the unseen in the first place will not benefit from the evidence, no matter how clear they may be.

And He the Almighty says: "Have they not looked into the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what Allah has created of things?" [Al-A'raf:185]. "In the dominion of the heavens and the earth" and He did not say: "to". The preposition "in" includes contemplation and reflection on the details. And what points to the Creator, glorified be He, more and more: "And what Allah has created of anything" means: everything that Allah has created points to Him, glorified be He! Everything that is created points to Him, glorified be He!

Oh wonder, how does one disobey the deity or how does the denier deny Him And for Allah in every movement and in every stillness is a witness And in every thing there is a sign pointing to Him as the One

The correct question is not: Is there evidence of the existence of a Creator? But rather, is there anything that can come out and separate itself from being evidence of the existence of the Creator? The answer: No!

God the Manifest and the Hidden

And Ibn Taymiyyah was truthful when he said: "The more people are in need of something, the more generous the Lord is with it." Yes! For the need of people to know their Lord is the greatest of needs. So you see that Allah is generous with them with evidence of His existence and ways of knowing His attributes. Indeed, among the names of Allah the Almighty is (the Manifest).

Ibn Al-Jawzi said in (Zad Al-Masir) in the interpretation of His saying, the Almighty: "He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden" [Al-Hadid:3], he said: The Manifest with His clear arguments, bright proofs, and evidence indicating the correctness of His oneness. Allah is manifest, perceived by the intellects and evidence. And at the same time, He is hidden; because He is not seen like all the things seen in the world.

This is the evidence with certainty, simplicity, clarity, and depth. All creatures in existence point to the existence of Allah. Everything you observe is not random beings, but their structure and movements indicate that they are created, meaning made by will and power. It is not possible for (nothing) to create them, nor is it possible for them -

The Importance of Distinguishing Between Evidence and Responses

Yes, we will respond to the doubts raised about the existence of God in upcoming episodes. However, everything we say will not be part of the evidence but rather a response to the objections raised against the evidence. Confusing the two is a mistake. Some people may have an innate faith, but when they hear these discussions responding to doubts, they may feel that the truth of God's existence is ambiguous, hidden, requiring intelligence, philosophy, and complexity. This is because they did not distinguish that everything they heard is not part of the evidence for God's existence but rather responses to doubts, and the complexity is not in the truth of God's existence but in the complexity of the task of engaging with those who doubt the obvious.

Therefore, it is necessary and important to distinguish between the evidence for God's existence and the responses to those who deny this obvious truth. Moreover, the frequent repetition of doubts raised against something does not necessarily mean its weakness. Rather, in the case of God's existence, the frequent repetition of doubts reflects a state of struggle by those who deny this truth that assaults them and imposes itself on them, so they defend themselves with every doubt to calm their disturbed souls.

"And have they not looked into the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever Allah has created and that perhaps their end is near? Then with what statement after this will they believe?" [Al-A'raf: 185].

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
