How can I tell you... about those moments of lethargy that we all experience? How can this message always remain in my mind? For example, I may understand, be certain, and know that this world is worth nothing compared to the Hereafter—nothing, zero!
But the question is: How can these words always be present in my heart? How can I remain focused on them, let them reflect upon me, and truly be affected by them? I feel this is a problem that many people face.
There is a wonderful solution: addiction.
Addiction to what? Addiction to the Quran—being addicted to reciting and reflecting upon it.
The Quran transports you from the illusion of worldly life, of which God the Exalted said:
"And the life of this world is not but amusement and diversion, but the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah." (Quran 6:32)
It moves you from this illusion that you live in to the realities of the Hereafter. When a person has a daily portion of the Quran, the Quran transports them to that life, so this world takes its true measure in their being, and the Hereafter remains their compass, controlling their thoughts.
Host: So, I want to ask you a question: Today, have you read your daily portion?
Guest: All praise is for God.
Host: Masha’Allah. To be honest, since we’re recording this podcast early in the morning, I haven’t read mine yet—for example—but I will, God willing, because there must be a daily provision that rescues a person from this illusion they live in.
I once wrote an article titled "Truth and the Nightmare." Have you ever experienced this phenomenon, where you have a disturbing dream, then realize it’s just a nightmare upon waking, and feel a sense of relief?
Guest: Yes, I’ve experienced it many times.
Thus, the Quran saves you from the nightmare of this world, in which we see the oppression faced by Muslims and sometimes suffer from pain and calamities, fearing things we dread in the future. The Quran takes you out of this nightmare and into the beauty of the Hereafter, attaching hearts to it so that they work for it and forget all the pain of this world.
