Peace be upon you. In light of the world's politicians submitting to American arrogance and their complicity in humiliating peoples and slaughtering Muslims in Gaza and elsewhere, and in light of submitting to the Zionist entity and many groveling at its feet in abject humiliation, people are in need of seeing any model that appears to break free from this tight grip and detestable control.
They are thirsty to see the "Zionist lobby" in America fail, even once, in electing whom they want. In light of the plundering of the riches of Muslim lands and seeing them spent to finance their slaughter in Sudan and support every evil in every corner of this globe, they are thirsty to see someone who promises his voters a better life and economic and social reforms. In light of the deceit against every attempt by Muslims to rise, they are thirsty to see someone who claims to be Muslim succeed in something, searching for any speck of hope amidst this dark scene.
All of this is understandable, my brothers, but as Muslims, we are obligated not to be swayed by emotion like a leaf in the wind. We have constants and divine standards by which we see the truths of things, and we have a divine book on which we base our positions.
I will not discuss with you the political dimensions of "Mamdani" reaching the position of mayor of New York, nor the possible and impossible that he can do in a country like America with its policies regardless of the nature of the people elected to implement these policies. Nor will I deny anyone the right to rejoice in this event as an indicator of the relaxation of the Zionist political grip and the American public's restlessness with the Zionist media grip.
What concerns us here is addressing the distortion of concepts that appears in dealing with such events; in terms of distorting the concept of Islam and normalizing with atrocities. Therefore, the discussion of "he is better than others" does not concern us. We are not comparing people but correcting ideas.
Many Muslim sons in America and abroad now look at "Mamdani" as a heroic role model who has achieved a victory for Islam and Muslims, even though they know that he describes himself as a "socialist democratic Muslim supporter of homosexuality."
Combining Islam with these descriptions is a combination of contradictions that cannot coexist. Whoever is convinced that they can be combined together has not understood the meaning of Islam. Adopting socialism and democracy, and saying that the act of "the people of Lot" is a right of its practitioners, is an adoption of what opposes Islam in the economic, social, legislative, and moral aspects; so what remains of Islam after that?
The act that Allah named its doers in the Quran as criminals: {They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people [who are] criminals"}, and in another verse: {Indeed, We are sending upon the people of this city a punishment from the sky because of what they have been doing}, and Allah the Almighty said, narrating about Lot: {He said, "My Lord, support me against the corrupt people."}
An act that Allah described its doers as criminals, transgressors, and corrupters; and he who says "rather, it is a right of theirs" and comes out in their marches raising their flags, this is a denier of Allah the Almighty and His verses:
Allah the Almighty says: {And We rained upon them a rain [of stones]. So see how was the end of the criminals}, and these people respond: there is no crime in it, rather, those who criminalize them and punish them by law should be criminalized!
We are not talking here about a minor sin that a person commits while acknowledging his sin and confessing to it, but about rejecting the command of Allah the Almighty and denying His verses.
Islam means that you submit your standards and judgments and feelings and perceptions and positions to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, on the religion of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, when he said: {I have submitted myself to the Lord of the worlds}. We will fall into sins and disobedience, but you acknowledge to Allah the Almighty that they are sins and disobedience: {And others have acknowledged their sins and mixed a righteous deed with another that was evil. Perhaps Allah will forgive them.}
Among the acts of the heart that a person is not a Muslim unless he has them: submission; that is, the Muslim submits to the judgment of Allah the Almighty, so even if he does the opposite in reality, he acknowledges that the judgment of Allah the Almighty is the truth and justice, and anything else is falsehood and oppression.
We understand that many Muslims are frustrated and pained by reality and want a ray of hope, but this does not mean, dear people, that we distort the concepts of Islam and erase its definition from its foundation. This, by Allah, does not increase us except in distance from honor, victory, and empowerment, and if the right of Allah has become trivial to us, then we have become trivial to Allah.
Praising those who defend the lewdness that Allah described its people with what we have heard is a normalization of this lewdness, and indeed, a destruction of the entire Islamic moral standard; so it becomes acceptable to people to say: "It is true that so-and-so defends the rights of so-and-so (the word we cannot say on social media), but despite that, he supports the Palestinian cause, says no to American policy and the Zionist lobby, and works for the benefit of his city and community, and he is a beloved, humble person, and he is better than this and that of the criminal politicians."
And the empty comparisons between the bad and the worse begin. If I told you: "It is true that so-and-so kills children and burns them, it is true that he steals our money and expels us from our homes, but he has good qualities that I respect him for," I think you would be disgusted by this speech and would not describe it as balance, wisdom, moderation, and moderation, but rather as foolishness and trivialization of children and our rights and properties.
The tragedy, my brothers, is that many of those who claim to be Muslims have become trivial to the right of Allah, so denying the judgments of Allah and denying the speech of Allah has become a relatively trivial matter in front of the good deeds of people as long as they support the Palestinian cause and seek to achieve prosperity for their communities. And by Allah, Palestine will not be victorious if the Muslims remain like this, and the oppression of the people of shame and disgrace will not be removed from them if they remain like this, and they will not achieve honor, prosperity, or dignity in this world or the hereafter if they remain like this.
Again, we do not deny your right to rejoice in the indicators of events, but this does not mean that you consider them a victory and honor for Islam, and that this person represents Islam or that he is a role model. Also, liberation from American and Zionist hegemony is not something we only rejoice in its indicators and then stand as spectators, but we must work for it with all the strength we have.
The events of Gaza and what followed of transformations in public opinion are an opportunity that Allah has given us, and we must invest in this opportunity with every legitimate means. Blurring concepts and trivializing the sanctities of the Lord of the worlds is not part of the required work, but it only increases our humiliation to Allah and the loss of opportunities.
Note, esteemed audience, that in all of this, we have only discussed one aspect. However, Mamdani's advocacy for socialism and democracy is no less invalid and harmful than his support for those who commit indecency. We are not speaking about participating in democratic elections to achieve certain benefits while acknowledging that the right to legislate belongs to Allah the Most High (for we are not discussing whether there are scholars who permit participation in these elections; that is not our topic). Rather, we are speaking of a person who openly advocates for democracy and socialism as a way of life, and this cannot be reconciled with Islam in any way.
Rejecting the authority of Islamic law is the root of all moral, social, political, economic, and all forms of corruption. And we remind you, esteemed audience, in conclusion: you are a Muslim who refers all matters to the judgment of Allah and His Messenger, otherwise, the known becomes unknown, and the unknown becomes known.
May Allah be our helper. Peace be upon you.
