Will Allah Grant Victory to Gaza?
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
Introduction: The Delusion of Victory and Reliance on Allah
Dear brothers, a few days ago, I prepared to publish a three-year-old article titled "Will You Be Victorious?" Foretelling victory is a delusion, and relying on Allah without taking action. Those who hold this delusion are the same people who might later object to Allah's decree. So, listen before you lose your faith, and there will be no excuse for you on that day.
The True Victory of the People of Gaza
The people of Gaza were victorious on the day their mujahideen fulfilled their duty, taking all necessary means, preparing as much strength as they could, terrifying the enemy of Allah and their own enemy, and keeping silent until they astonished the world with what they did. They set an unforgettable example for Islamic nations, trampling on the pride of their enemy and throwing it in the trash bin of history.
Then, the people of Gaza were victorious on the day the civilians rallied around the mujahideen, neither blaming them nor disowning them, and did not say to them, "You have brought calamity upon us," but rather they were proud of them and supported them. The people of Gaza stood with their mujahideen in one solid line despite the severe affliction that befell them, which they are suffering from now, an affliction that if it had befallen the mountains, it would have humbled them. Yet, they are patient and striving, and they did not betray their mujahideen nor conspire with their enemies against them.
By Allah, this is a great victory for their faith. No matter what the cowardly forces of disbelief and hypocrisy do to the people of Gaza in terms of killing, burning, and destruction, this does not erase the fact that the people of Gaza have been victorious. The matter is decided. The honor of Islam is in the hearts, and the Muslims have all learned that with Allah's help, we are capable. The souls of the Muslims have ascended, and we ask Allah to accept them as martyrs, and a lesson of honor has been written for all future generations of Muslims, and the humiliation of disbelief. May Allah heal the hearts of the believers. This is our victory and their disgrace, which will not be erased by planes, bombs, or tanks. It is a matter etched in the memory of people and in the annals of history.
The Concept of Victory in Islam
Victory in Islam is to die steadfast in your religion. Allah teaches us this meaning with utmost clarity in Surah Al-Buruj when He speaks of people who believed, so the disbelievers dug a trench for them and burned them alive until death. Yet, Allah the Almighty said about these believers: {Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.} Their enemy wanted to turn them away from their religion but could not, so they could only kill them. They were killed, but after they had triumphed over their enemy by exposing his plot, to be immortalized in Paradise thereafter, and their enemy immortalized in the painful torment, {That is the great attainment.}
The companion Haram bin Milhan was killed treacherously by polytheists with a spear in his back that pierced his stomach. He wiped his blood with his hand and put it on his face, saying, "I have won, by the Lord of the Kaaba, I have won, by the Lord of the Kaaba."
So, do not ask me if Allah will grant victory to the people of Gaza? They have already been victorious. This is not a matter that might happen in the future, but a matter that was decided on the Day of Dignity, Saturday, October 7, 2023, meaning it happened in the past and is still ongoing. And we ask Allah for them to remain steadfast in their religion and content with the decree of their Lord so that they may remain victorious no matter what befalls them.
Military Victory and the Sunnah of Allah
But what about military victory? That is, triumphing on the battlefield. Are the verses that speak of victory only about dying steadfast? Did not Allah the Almighty say: {O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet}? And He said, the Almighty: {And [you will obtain] another [favor] that you love: victory from Allah and an imminent conquest; and give good tidings to the believers.} Yes, but let us understand what it means for this victory to come to the people of Gaza in this sense.
The people of Gaza are not fighting only the Zionists, but they are fighting all the forces of disbelief and hypocrisy in the world. And this is very clear from the support of these forces for the Zionists with money, weapons, missiles, statements, and media. The defeat of all of them means the collapse of the corrupt international system, the removal of its tails in the Muslim lands, and the liberation of the Muslims. That is, the victory of Gaza in this sense is a victory for all Muslims.
The question that arises is: Have the Muslims taken the means as the people of Gaza have taken them so that they deserve this victory? Have they prepared the means with patience and built a strong relationship with Allah as the people of Gaza have done, as we consider them? So, on what basis will Allah grant victory to the Muslims?
Brothers, pay attention to this example. Our situation is like that of an army with a vanguard (a small advance force). This vanguard attacked a massive enemy army, causing great slaughter, inflicting heavy wounds, and disrupting it. It won, of course, for it fulfilled its duty. Imagine if we, the rest of the army, stood in our place, praying for this vanguard, and did not move, and the vanguard said to us, "Come, complete the victory. We have proven to you that we are capable. Attack the enemy." If we remained in our place and said, "A small group has overcome a large group by the permission of Allah. Perhaps this vanguard will overcome this massive army. Is not Allah capable of all things?" Would this be a good opinion of Allah and not a disappointment and a misinterpretation of the Sunnah of Allah?
Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves. So, how do we want victory for the entire nation when it does not deserve it like the people of Gaza who have fulfilled their duty? This is not the Sunnah of Allah the Almighty in victory and empowerment.
The Responsibility of the Ummah and Its Shortcomings
The forces of disbelief and hypocrisy, although they differ and disagree, have united in waging war against the Muslims. This is a war in which Gaza does not substitute for the Muslim nation, nor does any other entity. The nation has not qualified for victory and has not taken its means to be rewarded with it. If the Muslims argue that the matter is not in their hands and that those in power over them, who control their countries, do not fear Allah, then these rulers have only been given power because of the sins of the people. The worst sin that can be committed these days is to be a partner in the conspiracy against the people of Gaza, directly or indirectly.
Anyone who prevents the victory of the people of Gaza is a partner in their killing. Anyone who appeases these partners, anyone who appeases or hypocritically deals with them or remains silent about their crimes while being able to denounce them, is a sinner and a wrongdoer, and their existence and forms delay the victory of the nation.
Allah the Almighty has made it obligatory in Surah Al-Anfal to support the Muslims among themselves, then He said: {And those who disbelieve are allies of one another - unless you do likewise [support each other], there will be fitnah on earth and great corruption.} If you do not take care of your brothers and support them against the disbelievers who support each other, what do you expect? Victory for all Muslims? Rather, fitnah on earth and great corruption.
Imagine when a Muslim hears: {And fight the polytheists collectively as they fight you collectively and know that Allah is with the righteous}, and he says, "No, no, I will pray for the two million people of Gaza that Allah grants them victory over all the polytheists without us being all with them." This is a disappointment and a betrayal, not a good opinion of Allah. You wait for Allah to grant victory to the people of Gaza with miracles and angels, while you watch and do nothing, taking no means for the general nation?
Conditions for Comprehensive Victory
Alright, does this mean that all Muslims must be righteous, pious, and virtuous individuals, otherwise Allah will not grant them victory? No, that is not the meaning. However, what is required is a general state of jihad within the Ummah, with the community supporting and aiding their mujahideen in a righteous and correct jihad. This should be the prevailing condition and the general characteristic of the society, with this being the loudest voice in the community, even if there are sinners and hypocrites who are hidden and ostracized. But if the reformers are a minority, disgraced by the general Muslim communities, then how can Allah grant victory to these communities?
Of course, my brothers, all of this is not to lash out at ourselves or to burden everyone with the responsibility of what the traitors and oppressors do in the Muslim lands. But I recently published a statement titled "What Can I Do for Gaza?" in which I explained that each of us has a responsibility according to our ability, and that there is no room for despair or negativity. However, we say this so that we may understand the Sunnah of our Lord, the Most High, and so that we do not allow ourselves to fall short before Allah and before our brothers. Then, after that, we add the sin of having bad thoughts about Allah and complaining about His decrees if He does not grant us victory collectively, even though we are not deserving of it.
Allah, the Most High, says: {That would have been so if Allah had willed, but [He held back] in order that He might test some of you by means of others.} Does this mean that the people of Gaza are paying the price for the shortcomings of the Muslims? No, the people of Gaza are chosen by Allah. And what greater manifestation of Allah's mercy could there be than to establish them in the face of this trial that shatters mountains? Be concerned about your own situation, brother, if you abandon them. And if you turn away, He will replace you with a people unlike you.
Conclusion: A Great Historical Opportunity
In conclusion, is it too late? No, this is a great historical opportunity that has shown us that, with Allah's help, we are capable. If we seize the means of victory and sustain this good spirit that has spread throughout the Ummah since last Saturday, then Allah's victory is near. At that point, let not the forces of disbelief and hypocrisy frighten us. Allah is surrounding them, and He is above His servants. {If Allah is your helper, then there is none who can overcome you; and if He should forsake you, then who is there that can help you after Him? And upon Allah let the believers rely.}
We ask Allah to relieve our brothers in Gaza and to aid us in supporting them. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
