Why do you curse God? Are you angry? Enraged? Angry at whom? At the Lord of Glory, exalted is He?! By doing so, you admit that there is hatred and resentment in your heart toward God, exalted is He.
I ask you by God: if these people who curse God knew that uttering such a word would lead to their imprisonment in dark dungeons where they would never see the sun, where food would be served only after they had relieved themselves—exalted and honored are you, O God—and subjected to various forms of torture as has occurred in some lands, would any of them dare to curse God, exalted is He? Would they even consider it? Impossible. Even in the height of their rage, they could not do such a thing.
Yet when it comes to violating the sanctities of the Lord of the Worlds, they take it lightly! This does not merely indicate that the person is "enraged"—it reveals the baseness and meanness of their soul. If they possessed the right to reverence, gratitude, and recognition of God, exalted is He, the option of transgressing against Him would never even cross their minds, nor would such a thought ever enter their hearts.
Some may say that the space they have or the "security from worldly punishment" is what drives them to do this. But the truth is that a person whose heart is filled with reverence turns to God even more intensely in times of hardship.
Observe the stark difference: between a companion of the Prophet—peace be upon him—or even people in our time, who, when affliction intensifies, cry out, "O Lord! O God! O Lord!" seeking help from God, exalted is He, and between a person who, when hardship strikes, curses God! What a vast difference there is between these two states.
