Negative Comments on the Call: A Sign of Its Arrival, Not a Reason to Stop

It is a sign of lack of wisdom and failure to understand the divine laws in creation when you are a reformer and publish something commanding good or forbidding evil, only to receive negative comments such as mockery, belittlement, or insults... and you are surprised by this or let frustration prevent you from continuing your efforts to reform!

Rather, the absence of such comments may indicate that your call has not yet reached the people most in need of it: those who are ignorant, hasty, and ill-mannered. Often, poor comments are evidence that you have touched a sensitive chord and shaken a false conviction that its holder had comfortably embraced.

Their absence may also signal a lack of impact; for anything following the Prophetic call is bound to provoke the demons of mankind and jinn:

Remember the saying of Abdur-Rahman ibn Mahdi:

"Were it not that I dislike disobedience to Allah, I would wish that no one remained in this land except that they slandered and backbitten me. What greater joy than a good deed recorded in a man’s book on the Day of Judgment that he neither performed nor knew about?"

So proceed with what pleases Allah and seek reward for what you endure...
