A friend told me about a situation where he refused to humiliate himself, unafraid of the consequences. I said to him: My brother, praise be to Allah for the blessing of Islam! When you hear the words of Allah Almighty: (Say, [O Muhammad], "Invoke your 'partners' and then conspire against me and give me no respite. (195) Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is the ally of the righteous (196)) (Al-A'raf) Then you hear the words of our Prophet, the teacher of dignity, peace be upon him: (And know that if the nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, they would not benefit you except with something that Allah has written for you, and if they were to gather together to harm you with anything, they would not harm you except with something that Allah has written against you) So what more do you want after that to breathe dignity into you more than this? This is why tyrants fight Islam, because it raises its children on dignity, while they want to enslave them. O Allah, we seek refuge in You from humiliation except to You, from fear except of You, and from poverty except towards You.
