The person who recognizes the value of their soul fully understands that this soul is the price they can pay to purchase eternal life in Paradise and everlasting bliss. With this soul, they can draw near to God the Exalted in this worldly life, filling their heart with profound meanings such as reliance on God, intimacy with Him, love for Him, longing for Him, and reverence for Him.
No rational person would waste such a great soul for a single word. Each of us possesses a treasury of good deeds accumulated over many years, awaiting eternal bliss in Paradise if we die while maintaining it. I am not foolish enough to squander this entire treasury and this magnificent future for the sake of a reckless word.
Imagine the state of someone who curses God the Exalted, thereby nullifying their deeds. What does "nullifying deeds" mean? Picture a person who has worked tirelessly for fifty years, accumulating a million dinars, only to douse them in gasoline and burn them all in one minute. Would this be rational or insane? It is impossible for such a person to be rational.
What is far more insane—by the Almighty God—is the person who curses their Lord and religion after having amassed a treasury of acts of obedience. God the Exalted says:
"And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever—it is those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter. And it is they who will be the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein forever." (Quran 2:217)
And He the Almighty says:
"And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed." (Quran 25:23)
In an instant, everything evaporates, and everything is lost. Only a madman would take such a step because they do not know the value of their soul.
This person sees themselves as inherently worthless. Because they have disdained their own state, they have made God the Exalted seem insignificant to them, as well as the Hereafter, and the treasury of good deeds—all of it becomes meaningless to them. But the one who recognizes the true worth of their soul would never commit such a crime.
Therefore, consider this magnificent Quranic expression:
"And do not be like those who forgot God, so He made them forget themselves. It is they who are the defiantly disobedient." (Quran 59:19)
When a person forgets God the Exalted and does not give Him the reverence He deserves, God makes them forget themselves. How does He make them forget themselves? He makes them forget to do what will bring happiness to this soul in the Hereafter and makes them forget to utilize the soul within them to purchase eternal bliss in Paradise.
In another verse, He says:
"So worship whatever you wish besides Him." Say, "Indeed, the losers are those who will lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, that is the manifest loss." (Quran 39:15)
The person who disbelieves in God has lost their soul and wasted this soul that could have been used to purchase everlasting bliss.
