Peace be upon you and God’s mercy. In the past few days, we have followed the ongoing discussion about Hala Ahed. Personally, I have been preoccupied and did not speak about the matter, but I believe it is necessary to clarify the issues with clear and calm words.
The issue began when the "Ahl" Foundation published sessions it organized to teach Hala Ahed about feminism. In the workshop registration form, there were several options for selecting gender: (male, female, other, prefer not to disclose). This is part of the "gender package" sweeping the world.
This prompted people to dig into the foundation’s past, where it was revealed that among its partners are institutions like the "Sexuality Forum," which advocates for lesbian rights and promotes campaigns against modesty and virginity culture.
When people researched Hala Ahed’s record, the following evidence—both visual and auditory—emerged:
When a lawyer in the interview cited the verse: "And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O people of understanding, that you may become righteous." (Quran 2:179) Hala insisted on rejecting the death penalty regardless of the justification, even if it were the word of God, claiming she sought a "more humane" alternative.
Many people expressed denial of these stances, prompting a wave of feminist and gender institutions in Jordan to defend her. Some public figures followed, arguing that she has other stances in defense of teachers' rights and that her freedom of expression must be respected.
Before analyzing the situation, let us recall that all of this occurs within the context of the "global war on fitrah (natural disposition)." Recent examples include calls in Jordan just days ago for a film promoting homosexuality. The international system and the United Nations are spreading sexual frenzy for materialistic and enslaving purposes, under slogans of equality and the rights of minors and children.
These international agreements that Hala Ahed advocates for enforcing are the same ones that incite Muslim sons and daughters to flee their homes to engage in homosexuality. They criminalize marriage before the age of eighteen and promote fornication.
First, I address those who denounced these stances: may God reward you well. Denouncing evil is a safeguard for our societies.
Next, I address the public figures who defended her, including a well-known writer who claimed she "supported and stood by the truth." To this writer, I ask: Do you not see the contradiction in your stances when you champion Quran memorization centers while simultaneously defending Hala, who defended Zuleikha Abu Risha—who demanded the closure of these centers and the cessation of Sharia education, calling it "brainwashing"?
What right do teachers have that is greater than respecting their religion? What greater injustice is there than forcing teachers to teach anti-religious gender concepts to corrupt the fitrah of their students?
First: A Muslim’s stances must be based on religion. Your positions hold no value unless they have a religious foundation, and quantity does not equate to validity.
Second: When it is said that she supported just causes, we ask: Is her support acceptable to God? The criterion is what the Prophet ﷺ said: "So that the word of Allah remains supreme." But those who struggle to make the word of CEDAW or the United Nations supreme are not on the path of God.
God says: "O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not." (Quran 49:2) If merely raising one’s voice in the Prophet’s ﷺ presence threatens to nullify deeds, what then of those who raise their voices above the rulings of God the Exalted?
Third: Do not play the game of silencing people from denouncing evil under the pretext of "takfirophobia." Now, anyone who rejects the demolition of constants is accused of "takfirophobia" to silence them all in the face of foreign agendas.
Fourth: The lie of "freedom of expression." No system in the world lacks sacred values. Liberal systems suppress you if you attack "gender ideology" or "homosexuality," so why is God’s religion always the weakest link? Is not God’s religion the most deserving of reverence?
Fifth: True hate speech is that which sows hatred in society and within families by corrupting women against their husbands and children against their parents.
Defending Hala Ahed—despite her gender activism—is normalization with the war on fitrah and a distorted engineering of societal awareness. As for us, we say to her: Fear God and retract from these stances, for God has not closed the door to repentance, and your guidance is more beloved to us.
We ask God to rectify our affairs and protect our lands and the lands of the Muslims. Peace be upon you and God’s mercy.
