Clarification for Everything - Episode 18 and the last in Ramadan
Parts 25 and 26
Parts 25 and 26
Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah, and may Allah bless you with goodness, dear guests. May Allah grant you well-being, and may Allah bless us and you in the remaining days of the month of Ramadan. We await your presence to begin with you, and I hope you inform me if the sound is audible.
In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. I would like, my brothers, to start by speaking about the Night of Power in a few minutes, if Allah wills. As you know, this night is the most hoped-for night to be the Night of Power, and thus we should think: what motivates us to strive to catch the Night of Power? Why should we strive in this night and in the remaining nights of Ramadan, especially the 27th, 29th, and the odd-numbered nights?
I would like to mention five reasons that motivate and inspire us to seek the Night of Power and strive in worship during these nights:
The First Reason: The saying of our Prophet, peace be upon him: "Whoever stands (in prayer) in the Night of Power with faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." Look at the greatness of Allah's generosity, glorified and exalted be He, and the beauty of the meaning; a person enters this night with sins and faults, then exits it pure and cleansed, all his sins are erased in one night. And his saying, peace be upon him, "with faith" means believing in what Allah has prepared of reward, and "seeking reward" means asking for the reward and the blessing.
The Second Reason: The saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Whoever is deprived of its good has been deprived." Standing in this night and worshiping it is better than the worship of a thousand months, and a thousand months is eighty-three years and four months, i.e., the life of a human being. You may be in comfort and wealth, but you may be deprived - Allah forbid - if you miss the good of this night, while the true winners are the people of worship.
The Third Reason: You know according to your striving, your status with Allah is known. Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Whoever wants from the workers to know his status with the sultan, let him see what work he is given and with what he is occupied." If you see that Allah occupies you in these nights with great works and obedience, know that you have a status with Allah. Even if you do not feel "the flight of my soul" or immense happiness, then forcing the self to worship and striving for it has a great reward, and everyone has degrees according to what they have done.
The Fourth Reason: Glorifying the rites of Allah. Allah says: {That is (the case). And whoever honors the symbols of Allah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.} And this night, Allah has named it the Night of Power, i.e., the night of honor and great status.
The Fifth Reason: The Night of Power is a blessing for the rest of the year. It is said that it is named "al-Qadr" from estimation and planning, it is the night in which the estimation of what happens in that year is made, as Allah says: {Therein is decreed every matter of ordainment.} So, invoking the blessing of good estimation for the coming year motivates us to supplicate with "O Allah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me."
We begin our competition today, and with us are seven questions. We welcome the leaders: Duaa Ahmed, Maryam Al-Labbadi, and Abdullah Shakloun, and the competition among them is very intense.
There is an ayah with two beautiful and precise descriptions of the Quran; life of the heart is by the Quran, and likewise its salvation from the darkness. Mention the two intended words only.
Each one of us needs a role model, even our beloved Messenger, peace be upon him, is commanded to follow in the saying of Allah: {Then follow their guidance.} Mention an ayah from today's two parts that agrees with this meaning.
There are people who strongly dislike the rulings of the Sharia, and these people are not benefited by their work with Allah no matter how good they are to people. Mention a noble ayah that clarifies this.
Ibrahim, peace be upon him, said: {You have only taken idols besides Allah as a love between you in the worldly life, then on the Day of Resurrection you will disown one another.} Mention an ayah from today's two parts that carried the same meaning.
It is incumbent upon the righteous servant to advise his children with the meanings of the oneness of worship in his life and before his death. Mention an ayah that indicates this meaning.
Imam Muslim narrated that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one from this nation hears about me, a Jew or a Christian, then dies without believing in what I was sent with, except that he will be among the companions of the Fire." Mention a clear ayah in the disbelief of whoever did not believe in Muhammad, peace be upon him.
An ayah is understood from which that the Gospel was not in its entirety a book of laws, but rather exhortations, softenings, and alleviations in general.
With this, we reach the end of this competition for this Ramadan season. I ask Allah to facilitate for us a post-Ramadan episode to conclude the remaining four parts. We congratulate the leaders who tied in points (Duaa, Maryam, and Abdullah), and everyone is a winner by Allah's permission.
May Allah accept from us and from you, and may Allah guide us to catch the Night of Power. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
