Clarification for Everything - Session Four
Good evening, and may Allah accept your deeds. We apologize for the delay and welcome our viewers on YouTube and Facebook to our fourth session of the "Clarification for Everything" competition.
We have ten questions today, most of which are from the eighth and ninth parts. A distinguished team of winners from previous competitions and new members this year prepared these questions. May Allah reward them well.
Question One: Faith and Righteous Deeds
Some people claim that faith does not necessitate action, and that a servant may be saved by Allah with faith in their heart alone, without the need to follow it with righteous deeds and avoid prohibited actions. Mention five words from a verse that indicate that a servant's salvation with Allah is not achieved by heart faith alone.
- Winner: Mousab Al-Jeroudi (from Syria).
- Answer: Allah's saying: "Or earned good in their faith."
- Explanation: The noble verse states: "On the Day when some of the signs of your Lord will come, it will be of no use to a soul that it had believed not before, or earned good in its faith." These five words indicate that not earning good (righteous deeds) after faith will not benefit the servant on that Day.
Question Two: Fear of Allah and Awe of Enemies
There is a word that is out of context for those who do not understand its meaning, indicating that fear of Allah removes from the believer's heart the awe of enemies and fear of them. What is this word from the previous parts?
- Answer: The word is "they fear."
- Explanation: Allah says in Surah Al-Ma'idah: "Two men of those who fear said, 'Enter upon them through the gate.'" When you read "they fear," it may come to mind that the fearful do not encourage others, but the meaning here is that they "fear Allah," and to the extent of their fear of Allah, Allah removes from their hearts the fear of enemies (the mighty people).
Question Three: The Rule of the Wicked and the Trial of Delegation
The believer hopes that leaders and politicians will be righteous, as this is a reason for the well-being of the people. However, their lack of faith should not be a reason to abandon the path, as it is Allah's will that rule in many places is in the hands of the wicked. Mention from today's parts a verse that indicates this.
- Winner: Brother (Flay Hay) from Tunisia.
- Answer: Allah's saying: "Thus have We made in every city great criminals to plot therein."
- Explanation: Ibn Ashur mentioned in the interpretation that "great" is a second object preceded, and "criminals thereof" is the first object postponed, meaning: We made their criminals the greatest of people. This is to express astonishment at their condition, and one of Allah's rulings in this is to extract the servitude of steadfastness on the truth in the face of the corruption of the rulers.
Question Four: The Selection of Messengers
Allah's revelation does not choose for Himself except the most complete of humans, and Allah cannot choose for Himself a flawed person. Mention a verse from the eighth and ninth parts that indicates that Allah chooses the best of humans for His revelation.
- Winners: Salim Qasebati (from Damascus) and Samer Shaib (from Jordan).
- Answer: Allah's saying: "Allah knows best where to place His message."
- Explanation: The verse came in response to the polytheists who said, "We will not believe until we are given the like of what was given to the messengers of Allah." So Allah explained that He does not place His message except with the most complete of humans, such as the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and the other prophets.
Question Five: The Believer's Tranquility When Few Support Him
One of the greatest trials a Muslim faces is the fear he suffers as a result of his adherence to religion and the few who support him. Mention a verse from today's parts that comforts the believer from these two matters (fear and lack of supporters).
- Winner: Afnan Muhammad (from Gaza - Palestine).
- Answer: Allah's saying: "For them is a home of peace with their Lord, and He will be their protector because of what they used to do."
- Explanation: "The home of peace" is the compensation for the fear and terror in this world, and His saying "He is their protector" is the compensation for the lack of supporters and helpers from humans.
Question Six: Acceptance of Injustice and Sharing of Burden
To accept injustice, even if you do not practice it, makes you one of the unjust people and associates you with them. Mention a verse from today's part that indicates this.
- Winner: Mousab Al-Jeroudi (from Syria).
- Answer: Allah's saying: "But We saved him and his family, except his wife, who was of those who remained behind."
- Explanation: Lot's wife did not practice the lewdness of her people, but when she accepted it, she was associated with them in punishment. This is a warning to those who defend the oppressors or those who commit major sins, for he fears that he will share their burden and fate.
Question Seven: Anger for Allah is a Quality of the Complete
The complete among the believers get angry when the prohibitions of Allah are violated. Mention a verse from today's parts that indicates this.
- Winners: Abdullah (from Saudi Arabia) and Abu Muhammad Al-Halabi.
- Answer: Allah's saying: "And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved."
- Explanation: Moses was angry because his people worshipped the calf and violated the prohibitions of Allah. Anger for Allah is a quality of the complete, and Ibn Al-Qayyim mentioned that whoever sees the prohibitions of Allah being violated and remains cold-hearted and silent is a "mute devil."
Question Eight: The Evil Intentions of Pharaoh's People
A word that indicates that Pharaoh's people did not intend to believe in Allah when they asked Moses to invoke Allah to remove the torment from them. What is this word?
- Winner: Samia (from Spain).
- Answer: The word is "for you."
- Explanation: Allah says: "If you remove from us the torment, we will surely believe for you." Ibn Ashur mentioned that they said, "We will believe for you," and they did not say, "We will believe in Allah," meaning we will believe that you are a messenger from your Lord to come out with you, but it was not a promise to follow the religion that Moses came with.
Question Nine: Doubt When Afflicted
Some people, if they see that following the true religion has not removed the worldly afflictions they suffer, begin to doubt the benefit of this adherence. Mention a verse from today's parts that mentions this flaw in thinking.
- Winners: Bayan Al-Tamimi (from Palestine) and Omar (from Egypt).
- Answer: Allah's saying: "We have been harmed before you came to us and after you came to us."
- Explanation: The Children of Israel expected immediate relief as soon as Moses came to them, but when the torment continued, they complained. Moses responded to them: "Perhaps your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you successors on the earth, then see how you act." To explain to them that succession is a trial, just as adversity is a trial.
Question Ten: Calling to Allah and Adhering to the Truth
If you wish to call people to adhere to Allah's command, you must be among those who are resolute, serious, and diligent, without leniency or laziness. Mention two words that indicate this meaning.
- Winner: Maryam Kamaal (from Syria).
- Answer: Allah's saying: "So take it with strength."
- Explanation: Allah, the Most High, said to Musa, peace be upon him: "So take it with strength and command your people to take the best of it." Taking with strength means firmness and not being lenient, and it is an essential condition for those who confront people's affairs and call them.
In conclusion, we are pleased to have met you today and with your diverse participation from various countries. We remind you that our fifth session will be tomorrow, by the permission of Allah (a make-up session), instead of the day after tomorrow, due to my involvement in a lecture at the same time.
May Allah bless you, and may He accept from us and from you. Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
