Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings, brothers and sisters. We greet you in this sixth session. Please excuse us today on the technical side, as there are some issues, and perhaps the sound may not be completely clear, so I will have to raise it a bit.
We have twelve questions today, some from the current part and some from previous parts, and we will point that out if God wills. We will start with God's blessing, relatively easy questions.
Question: The greatest bliss in Paradise is the spiritual bliss of attaining the pleasure of Allah the Almighty. Mention four words from the previous parts that indicate this meaning.
Answer: The answer is the saying of Allah the Almighty: "{And pleasure from Allah is greater}." Notice the verse from the beginning: "{Allah has promised the believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever, and goodly dwellings in gardens of Eden; but pleasure from Allah is greater than all this, greater than the gardens and the goodly dwellings."} That is, greater than all this bliss; greater than the gardens and the goodly dwellings.
Question: If a person is unable to perform a great deed (such as jihad, for example), this does not exempt him from striving in what benefits Muslims according to his capacity and ability. Mention four words from the previous parts that refer to this meaning.
Answer: The answer is His saying: "{When they give sincere advice to Allah and His Messenger}." Allah the Almighty said: "{There is no blame upon the weak nor upon the ill nor upon those who do not find anything to spend, if they give sincere advice to Allah and His Messenger}." Allah, the Exalted, has removed the sin from them due to their inability, but He has made it a condition that they be upright and give sincere advice to the Muslims and strive in what benefits them.
Question: Allah the Almighty rewards the believer considering the honor of the goal, and to confirm this meaning, Allah added three words at the end of a verse that distinguish it from the verse that follows. What are they? (Three words from the previous parts are required.)
Answer: The three words are: "{By it, a righteous deed}." Allah the Almighty said: "{It was not for the people of the city and those around them of the bedouins to remain behind the Messenger of Allah... That is because they are not afflicted by thirst nor by fatigue nor by hunger in the cause of Allah... Except that there was written for them by it a righteous deed}." This confirms that the hardship, thirst, and hunger in the cause of Allah are in themselves "righteous deeds" for which the believer is rewarded, whereas in the following verse, which is about spending, He said: "{Except that there was written for them}" without adding "by it a righteous deed" because the reward for spending is known inherently.
Question: A word came explicitly in the place of the pronoun, indicating that what Allah bestows upon His servants is purely out of His generosity. What is this word from the eleventh and twelfth parts?
Answer: The word is: "{By His favor}." Notice the saying of Allah the Almighty in Surah Yunus (verse 107): "{And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, there is no withholder of His favor}." The explicit name (by His favor) in a place where the pronoun (for Him) was expected, to make you understand that any good that comes to you is purely a favor from Allah, while the adversity did not say "by His justice" but said "for Him" (i.e., for the adversity).
Question: Among the Arabic styles is the style of "provocation and incitement," such as addressing a person with what you know for certain he does not do to motivate him. Mention four words at the beginning of a verse from the eleventh and twelfth parts that include provocation of the Prophet peace be upon him.
Answer: The four words are: "{If you are in doubt}." He said: "{If you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, then ask those who read the Scripture before you}." And the Prophet peace be upon him was never in doubt, but this is a way of provocation and incitement, or the speech is directed to everyone who deserves the speech from the listeners. This is supported by His saying in the same Surah: "{Say, O people, if you are in doubt about my religion, I do not worship what you worship besides Allah}." He peace be upon him is in complete certainty.
Question: Five words in the middle of a noble verse indicate that the time of changing circumstances on earth from advancement to retreat occurs at the peak of the people's feeling of strength and empowerment. What are these words from the eleventh and twelfth parts?
Answer: The answer is: "{And the people of it thought that they had power over it}." Allah the Almighty said: "{Until when the earth shows its adornments and is beautified and its people think that they have power over it, Our command comes to it by night or by day and We make it like a harvest, as if it had not flourished the day before}."
Question: Some of the people of the prophets repeated a word in their denial, so their prophet responded with a word that challenges their understanding and judgments. What is this word?
Answer: The word is: "{So it was made blind}." The people of Nuh peace be upon him repeated the word "we see" (we see you as only a man, and we do not see any favor from you over us), so the response came: "{So it was made blind to you}." That is, the problem is in your blindness to the truths, so contrary to your claim of vision, you are in reality "blind."
Question: The people of falsehood may bargain with the Muslim by persuasion, by making him aware that he was respected and honored among them before his call. Mention two places in today's parts (11 and 12) in each of which there are four words where the people of a prophet used this style.
Answer:
Question: Procrastination with righteousness and the soul's desire that this is "the last of the mistakes" is a satanic entry for committing sin. Mention five words from a verse in which this procrastination is mentioned from today's parts.
Answer: The answer is His saying: "{And you will be after that a righteous people}." This is what the brothers of Yusuf said when they planned to get rid of him: "Kill Yusuf or cast him out to a land, so that there may be space for you before your father, and you will be after that a righteous people}." This is a style by which Satan lures the sons of Adam that the sin is just a final obstacle followed by righteousness.
Question: One of the Quran's styles is to entice the disbelievers or hypocrites by making them feel that their request has been granted, so that when they ponder, they find the result to be the opposite of what they asked for. Mention two words from a verse in parts 11 and 12 that contain this style.
Answer: The two words are: "فَأَعْرِضُوا عَنْهُمْ". Allah says about the hypocrites: "They will swear by Allah to you when you return to them that you may turn away from them. So turn away from them; indeed, they are [worse than] impurity." The hypocrite asked to be ignored so he could escape blame and reproach. Allah apparently granted his request outwardly, "So turn away from them," but this turning away is in disgust and abandonment of association and kindness because they are "impure." The result was a burden upon them, contrary to what they hoped for.
Question: One of the Quran's styles is the mocking exception (affirming something with what resembles its opposite). Mention four words from a verse in today's parts that contain a mocking exception that cuts off the listener's hope after they have been enticed.
Answer: The words are: "إِلَّا أَن تَقَطَّعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ". Allah says about the hypocrites' construction (the mosque of harm): "Their construction which they have built will always be a cause of doubt in their hearts, except that their hearts are cut off." The word "except" gives the impression of an exit, but His saying "that their hearts are cut off" (i.e., by death) cuts off all hope of this bad effect being removed from them in this world.
Question: Allah says: "And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet [in return] with what is better than it, or at least return it." In the story of one of the prophets in today's parts, the prophet responded to the greeting with something better than what he was greeted with. Mention one word that shows this.
Answer: The word is: "سَلَامٌ" (raised). In the story of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, with the angels: "They said, 'Peace.' He said, 'Peace.'" The angels greeted with the verbal sentence (peace: i.e., we convey peace), which implies renewal, while Ibrahim, peace be upon him, responded with the nominal sentence (peace: i.e., everlasting and stable peace be upon you). The nominal sentence in language implies stability and continuity, so his response was better than their greeting.
With this, we have finished today's questions. May Allah reward you for your excellent follow-up, and we will meet you again tomorrow, God willing. May Allah bless you and the assisting brothers. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
