Close Zaatari camp
Close the Zaatari Camp
All praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.
We direct this message to the Jordanian people first, and we address them in the language they understand, the language of Allah and His Messenger. If the Commission does not understand this language afterwards, we will address it in its own language.
Islamic Principles in Dealing with Refugees
As for our language and principles, we say: Allah, the Almighty, said, "Indeed, this ummah of yours is one ummah." Therefore, our Syrian brother has a share and a right to the land of Jordan, the water of Jordan, and the blessings of Jordan as a son of this country. "Indeed, this ummah of yours is one ummah."
And Allah, the Most High, said, "The believers are but brothers." And the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "The example of believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion is like the example of a single body." And he said, "The blood of believers is one, and the lowest among them acts on their behalf, and they are a hand upon those who are not of them." And the hadith we all know: "By Allah, he does not believe, by Allah, he does not believe, by Allah, he does not believe, who goes to sleep full while his neighbor is hungry."
These people have come to us as guests, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest."
Zaatari Camp: A Stain of Shame
Therefore, in the language we understand, this camp is a stain of shame on the forehead of each one of us. A stain of shame on the forehead of each one of us. We remember when we watched documentaries about the Italian occupation in Libya and the documentary about Omar Mukhtar, when he documented the vertical images of the camps that the Italian occupation set up in the desert and the scattered tents, we despised this criminal, barbaric occupation that used to throw people into these large detention centers.
There are families originally present in this area, we do not accept this area (Zaatari) neither for our brothers who are being killed in this area nor for our brothers who are displaced.
The Example of the Ansar and the Muhajireen
When the Muhajireen migrated to Medina, the Ansar came and said to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, "Divide the palm trees between us and our brothers." They asked the Prophet, peace be upon him, to divide their wealth among the Muhajireen. So he said, "No." The Ansar themselves said to the Muhajireen, "You share with us in the work, and we share with you in the fruit." In what way did they express their goodwill towards their brothers. And the Muhajireen shared the wealth, trying to divide the wealth equally.
We demand that everyone divides their wealth equally with their Syrian brothers, at least they move to an area with the basic components of human life. Otherwise, if what happened to our brothers in Syria happens to us, we do not expect that Allah, the Almighty, will save us.
Criticizing International Duplicity and the Demand for Closure
We say to you, with your principles and your laws, this camp does not achieve the minimum requirements of international custom and international law. Therefore, why this duplicity? Why this duplicity? Why, when it comes to Muslim peoples and persecuted, tormented, displaced people, do we not see these international customs nor the international community move a muscle?
Therefore, our demand is clear, simple, and immediately executable: the complete closure of this camp and its folding into oblivion as if it never existed, and the transfer of Syrian refugees to decent places. And we know that the generous Jordanian people are fully ready to spend from their pockets, their resources, and their blessings to open a place that is worthy.
And I will be the donor, by the permission of Allah, and my brothers present, I testify that there is no one but everyone is ready to donate to open a worthy place. And Allah, the Most High, is a witness to what I say.
