Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. May Allah bless you, brothers and sisters, in this session of the "Tabyan for Everything" competition. Today we have questions from the seventeenth and eighteenth parts, and the questions are generally easy as we always provide. We ask everyone to ensure the quality of sound and image to start with the permission of Allah.
Question: A word meaning "to narrow," the misunderstanding of which leads to a significant misinterpretation of a verse, what is this word?
Answer: The word is (Nadiru) in His saying, may He be glorified and exalted, about Yunus, peace be upon him: {So he thought that We would not restrain him [from punishment]}. Some mistakenly think that the meaning is from "power and ability," which is not befitting for a prophet, but the meaning here is from "narrowing." As in His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: {And as for when He tests him, He restrains him in provision}, meaning He narrows it for him.
Explanatory Directions: There are two notable views on the verse:
Question: A stance of steadfastness from the Prophet ﷺ in which the Quran attributes the praise to Allah the Almighty, mention three words that contain this attribution. (This question is from the fifteenth part).
Answer: The words are: {And had it not been that We steadfasted you}.
Explanatory Directions: Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, says: {And they had almost seduced you from that which We revealed to you that you might forge against Us another, and then they would have taken you as a friend. And had it not been that We steadfasted you, you would have almost inclined to them a little}. Ibn Ashur indicates that the disbelievers tried to lure the Prophet ﷺ to distinguish them with private councils away from the weak, and their hidden goal was to drive him to forge against Allah. Had Allah not steadfasted His Prophet, he might have inclined to them slightly for the sake of the call, but Allah protected him. And this is among the greatest evidence that the Quran is from Allah, where the praise for steadfastness is attributed to Allah alone.
Question: The poet said: "And placing the dew in the place of the sword in the heights.. Mudar is like placing the sword in the place of the dew." Mention a verse that blames leniency and kindness in the wrong place.
Answer: His saying, may He be glorified and exalted, regarding the punishment of adultery: {And do not be soft toward them in religion}.
Explanatory Directions: Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned in the fatwas that Allah prohibited leniency in enforcing punishments, because Satan may make it seem to people that this is out of mercy and leniency, while in reality, it is humiliation, weakness of faith, and aid in sin. This balance preserves the society from corruption and the destruction of lineages.
Question: Your friend said to you: Why do we frighten people with Allah and not suffice with hope? A verse stopped you that describes a creation that never disobeyed Allah, yet they fear Him, mention four words that indicate that.
Answer: The words are: {And they are from fear of Him, apprehensive}.
Explanatory Directions: The verse describes the angels in Surah Al-Anbiya. They are honored servants, who glorify night and day without ceasing, yet they are from the fear of Allah, apprehensive due to His greatness and their knowledge of His majesty. If this is the state of the angels who do not disobey Allah, then how about us? The believer always needs the balance between fear and hope.
Question: Mention two verses from today's parts with the meaning of His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: {But as for man, when his Lord tries him and [then] honors him and suffices him, he says, "My Lord has honored me"}.
Answer: His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: **{Do they think that what We provide them of wealth and children * We hasten for them in good things? Rather, they perceive not}.
Explanatory Directions: Not every blessing is an honor, for it may be a temptation. If you see Allah blessing you while you are persistent in disobedience, then beware, for it is only a respite. The true measure is closeness to Allah and obedience to Him.
Question: People of falsehood present doubts, and people of knowledge refute them, increasing their certainty and revealing the beauties of the religion. Mention a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: {And that those who were given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord and then believe in it, and their hearts may be humbled to Him}.
Explanatory Directions: The doubt that Satan casts is a trial for the sick at heart, but for people of knowledge, it increases their firmness because they see the futility of falsehood in the face of the power of truth. As Dr. Daraz said: "Every doubt raised against the truth, the truth will turn it into an argument for itself."
Question: Among the signs of the acceptance of worship is that it increases its owner's fear of Allah, which does not delude him nor give him false security, mention a verse that indicates that.
Answer: His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: {And those who give what they give while their hearts are fearful that to their Lord they will return}.
Explanatory Directions: The believer gathers the conditions of acceptance from sincerity and following, and rejoices in the grace and guidance of Allah to obedience, but at the same time, he increases in greatness and reverence for Allah, and fears falling short or committing sins. This "fear" is a sign of the life of the heart and its lack of arrogance towards the deed.
Question: Mention two words that indicate that this Quran is an honor to those who act upon what is in it.
Answer: His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: {In it is your remembrance} in Surah Al-Anbiya: {Indeed, We have sent down to you a Book in which is your remembrance. Then will you not reason?}.
Explanatory Directions: Al-Tabari is of the opinion that "your remembrance" means "your honor." Whoever follows this Quran is honored and dignified in this world and the hereafter. And we see this clearly in the sincere scholars whom Allah has raised their mention despite the trials, while those who flattered the oppressors and sold their religion for a portion of the world have fallen from people's eyes.
Question: A friend of yours is dominated by the use of philosophy in his call, mention four words that clarify to him that he has strayed from the path of the prophets.
Answer: His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: {Say, "I only warn you by the revelation"}.
Explanatory Directions: The pillar of calling, warning, and giving good tidings is revelation (the Book and the Sunnah). Whatever good is in philosophies is present in the Quran in a more perfect and clearer manner, and deviating from revelation to other human methodologies is straying from the straight path that the Prophet ﷺ commanded.
Question: Leaving worship is humiliation for the one who leaves it, mention seven words from a verse that reminds you of this meaning.
Answer: His saying, may He be glorified and exalted: {And whoever Allah humiliates - then there is no honor for him}.
Explanatory Directions: The verse in Surah Al-Hajj came after mentioning the prostration of all creatures to Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, then He said: {And much has the punishment befitted them. And whoever Allah humiliates - then there is no honor for him}. Whoever is arrogant about the worship of Allah, Allah humiliates him, and whoever leaves the servitude to Allah in which there is honor and dignity, becomes a slave to his desires or to Satan or to people, and this is the true humiliation.
With this, we have reached the end of the questions for this session. We congratulate the winners from YouTube and Facebook, and we will collect the points and announce the results soon, God willing. May God reward you for your interaction and your diligence in contemplating the verses of the Noble Quran.
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of God and His blessings.
