Until the Blessed Syrian Revolution Succeeds (1)
The "Failure" Strategy in Governance Experiments
The political analyst and author specializing in Islamic extremism, "Graham Fuller" - who served as Deputy Director of the American intelligence agency, worked between the US State Department and the CIA for twenty-seven years, worked at the RAND Corporation for strategic planning specializing in Middle Eastern affairs, then as a professor of history at Simon Fraser University - this man summarized his extensive experience in a critical sentence from his book (The Future of Political Islam), stating: "Nothing can portray Islamists in a worse light than a failed experience in governance."
This strategy of bringing Islamists to power and then sabotaging them has been used to overthrow parties involved in the democratic game, as happened in Egypt. However, we see that it is also being used to destroy the jihadist situation in Syria.
Analysis of Field and Political Movements
The withdrawal of the Nusayri regime from large areas, leaving them to enjoy relative safety, the indifference of neighboring countries to the entry of some mujahideen into Sham, and the functional support of some Gulf states for certain factions; if this happens - God forbid - it will be a blow to the jihadist situation in Syria, preventing its liberation and returning it to the international slavery pen. Perhaps the bombing of grain depots in areas controlled by the rebels is part of this plan to incite people against them under the pressure of hunger.
Therefore, brothers, we are happy with the liberation of "Mang Military Airport" and the advance in the "Syrian coast," but this does not prevent us from methodological advice; not out of spoiling the joy or diminishing the significance of the victories, but rather to ensure their stability and increase, and lest defeats turn around.
Understanding the Methodological Divergence
Before these advices, we present an important introduction: The methodological divergence among this jihadist people and the sons of the nation who have flocked to the land of Sham is a reality that is imposed. Therefore, it is futile to rush to reject the existence of a jihadist faction and to be angry with it, even if it has mistakes, and it has battles that cannot be denied in fighting the enemy, and most of its members are righteous Muslims who have flocked to the land of Sham to help their Muslim brothers.
Their original motivation was not to impose themselves on anyone, but they came to ransom the Muslims of Syria and the honor of Muslim women with their lives and blood for the bond of religion that they prefer over the bond of kinship. If they make a mistake, what do we do with them?
- Do we fight them?
- Do we cut them off and turn away from them?
- Do we try to isolate them from the body of society?
If we do so, this is the most desirable thing for our enemies at this stage, as they are the sole beneficiaries of it. However, at the same time, we do not approve of their mistakes nor remain silent about them under the pretext that they are sacrificing mujahideen; therefore, there must be advice, advice of integration and advancement, not enmity and exclusion, as long as their guns are directed at the common enemy.
Steps Towards Unity
Therefore, let us focus our efforts, brothers, on:
- Spreading an atmosphere of understanding among the factions, mutual goodwill, and mercy among them.
- Calling on each faction to distinguish between what is "absolute error" and what "bears ijtihad" before criticizing the methodologies of other factions.
- Striving to prevent any transgression of one faction against another.
- Striving to strengthen their ties with all Syrians and unite with the body of this society.
- Forming a joint consultative council that also includes dignitaries who love Allah the Almighty and His religion.
If the reformers succeed in this, it will result, by the permission of Allah, in immense, widespread good. If we think in this way - that we do not want any faction to disappear or be isolated, nor do we insist temporarily that it dissolve into another, but rather we want it to correct its mistakes and understand its brothers - this will greatly reflect on our advice and dealing.
Let the slogan of this stage be the saying of Allah the Almighty: {And say to My servants that they should say that which is best. Verily, the Shaitan (Satan) sows enmity and hatred between them.} (Quran 17:53), and it is no secret the extent of the work of the devils of mankind and jinn to cause corruption among the mujahideen.
