Do Not Diminish the Value of the Sharia!

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

Dear brothers, we are still in the series "Defending the Sharia," and we are still discussing the argument that the problems of society must be addressed first, then the Sharia can be applied in reality.

Diminishing the Value of the Religion

This argument diminishes the value of Allah's religion. It reduces the value of the religion. If secular laws and human solutions that contradict the Sharia can improve people's lives and solve their problems, then what is the purpose of the Sharia?

Does this argument mean that we should fix our worldly affairs with secular laws and then fix our hereafter by applying the Sharia? Did the Sharia not come to improve both this world and the hereafter? Is not the Creator of the Sharia, glorified and exalted, the most knowledgeable of what His servants need in this world? Does He not know, the One who created and is the Most Kind, the Most Aware?

Did Allah not reveal the Sharia out of mercy for people, considering their weakness, and knowing that they cannot manage their lives without His guidance?

The Wisdom of Allah in Legislating Rulings

Allah, glorified and exalted, said after He explained some rulings of the Sharia in Surah An-Nisa: "Allah intends for you ease and does not want to make things difficult for you. And so that you may complete the period and proclaim the greatness of Allah for that [time] in which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful. Allah does not want to make a difficulty for you, but He wants to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful. And Allah wants to lighten for you [the burden], and mankind was created weak." (4:26-28)

This means that Allah revealed the Sharia knowing that man is weak, so He wanted to save him from the burden and hardship of secular laws, rulings, and human desires.

The Sharia Eases the Burden on Man

As Allah, glorified and exalted, said: "And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty." (24:2) This speech is directed to the Companions, the purest of people in heart, the most balanced in mind, and the least driven by desires. Yet, Allah tells them that if His Prophet were to leave them to follow their choices, they would be in difficulty, meaning they would suffer hardship in this world.

What about secular laws made by people who have no purity of heart or piety, who only legislate out of desire and personal interests? Do we want to reform the affairs of society with their laws?

Then Allah said: "But Allah has made the faith pleasing to you and has adorned your hearts with it." (49:7) What is faith? The religion of Allah, the Sharia of Allah.

Conclusion

The conclusion of this episode: The argument that the problems of society must be addressed before applying the Sharia diminishes the value of the Sharia. The Sharia was not revealed except to solve the problems of society and to improve the worldly and hereafter affairs of people.

Until we meet again in the next episode, by the permission of Allah. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
