The Sovereignty of the People Means the Divinity of the People

The sovereignty of an entity means that it is not accountable for its actions, as it is the one that judges individuals. Sovereignty means that no entity is above it or subjects it to its will. Sovereignty means supreme authority. And with this definition, sovereignty is divinity, and it is for Allah alone, with no partners.

Review what has been mentioned to see that with this definition, sovereignty has been attributed to the people, and on the tongues of those who are supposed to be Islamists. The sovereignty of the people is a new religion, in which the people judge actions and principles as valid or invalid, and in which those who commit an act deemed wrong by the people are punished. And the will of the people is not judged by the will of Allah, but rather the Sharia of Allah is subjected to the will of the people. Thus, the people in this religion are the people who are divine.

Let us see the sovereignty of Allah in the religion of Allah, and then see in contrast the sovereignty of the people in the religion of democracy.

The Sovereignty of Allah in the Religion of Allah

The phrase "the sovereignty of Allah" is not an innovation, for in the hadith narrated by Abu Dawood and authenticated by Al-Albani, a delegation of Banu Amr said to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him: "You are our master," so he said: "The master is Allah, the master is Allah, blessed and exalted." Therefore, the absolute sovereignty is for Allah, the Almighty.

Compare the sovereignty of Allah the Almighty who says: {Verily, the judgment is for none but Allah.} This is a style of restriction, meaning that judgment is for none but Allah. Judgment in all its forms is for Allah alone, with no partners. All of this is included in His saying, the Mighty and Majestic: {Verily, the judgment is for none but Allah.} What did the Lord of Might say after that? He narrated about Yusuf, peace be upon him: {Verily, the judgment is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him.} Therefore, attributing judgment in any of these things to anyone other than Allah, the Almighty, is worship of that other. Giving anyone the right to judge actions as right or wrong is worship of him. Giving anyone the right to punish those who disobey his judgments is worship of him. {He has commanded that you worship none but Him.}

The Sovereignty of the People in the Religion of Democracy

Compare this with the religion of the sovereignty of the people, which says the third verse of its satanic verses: "The sovereignty is for the people alone, the sovereignty is for the people alone." Compare this with the statements that abound with the sayings of those who claim to work for Islam but have accepted democracy as a path. And I will not mention names or parties here, what matters to us in the end is to correct the concepts. We want Muslims to pay attention to these statements and reject them and refuse to work with them, whoever the speaker may be.

Compare {Verily, the judgment is for none but Allah.} with the saying of one of them: "We are with democracy in all its dimensions and in its complete and comprehensive meaning, and we do not object to the multiplicity of parties, for it is the people who judge ideas and persons." We disavow ourselves to Allah, the Almighty, from such a statement.

Compare the sovereignty of Allah the Almighty who says: {Verily, the judgment is for none but Allah. He relates the truth, and He is the best of judges.} For the judgment in all matters is to Allah, the judgment in all matters is to Allah. And this is a requirement of being pleased with Allah as a Lord and with Islam as a religion.

Compare that with the religion of the sovereignty of the people, which one of its adherents said: "The decision of our people will be the decisive one that we refer to, and the people will decide what they will or reject what they will, for it is in accordance with all international norms and in accordance with the principles of democracy."

And in contrast, the religion of the sovereignty of the people, which one of its adherents said: "We will always and forever remain with the will of the people, and we will accept what the ballot boxes produce, whatever the result, because the ballot boxes and democracy are the right and proper path." Therefore, democracy is no longer a means to achieve the implementation of the Sharia in their view, but it is the right and proper path, for it is not permissible for anyone to comment on the judgment of the people.

O you who are pleased with Allah as a Lord and with Islam as a religion, do these statements not mean one thing: being pleased with the people as a ruler and thus as a deity, and with democracy as a way of life and thus as a religion? {Shall I seek a judge other than Allah while it is He who has sent down to you the Book, explained in detail?}

The Response to Doubts and Justifications

Some may object to these statements by saying that the people in general are Muslim and will not choose anything other than the Sharia, so the sovereignty of the people will lead to the implementation of the Sharia. That is, they want to reach the sovereignty of Allah through the sovereignty of the people. And this is equivalent, upon investigation, to claiming to reach the divinity of Allah through the divinity of the people. And it reminds us of the saying of those before them: {We worship them only that they may bring us nearer to Allah.} And these people say: "We do not refer to the people except to bring us nearer to the judgment of the religion of Allah." And we have explained the invalidity of this argument in the episode "The Story of Ajlan and Salima" in a comprehensive manner.

And some may mock us who are used to formulating gelatinous sentences in which he preserves the line of retreat for himself before all parties, saying: "Do you mean by your words that the people do not have the authority to appoint and remove the ruler?" We respond to him that we distinguish well between the sovereignty in which no human has any right, and on the other hand, the authority of the Muslim people in choosing the Muslim ruler to rule them under the sovereignty of the Sharia. And this authority is regulated by the rulings of the Sharia in terms of how the nation chooses the ruler, and in terms of how to remove him if he violates the rulings of the Sharia. For the sovereignty of the Sharia in the Islamic system is the binding contract for both parties. For the nation removes the ruler if he violates this sovereignty, and the ruler, on the other hand, does not pledge allegiance to the nation as an agent to implement what it wants as in democracy, but rather he pledges allegiance to the nation to implement the Sharia. So if the people who pledged allegiance to him deviate from the Sharia, he fights them until they return.

The Danger of the Sovereignty of the People

We return to say: We oppose the sovereignty of the people even if it is considered a temporary means to remove sovereignty from dictatorial authorities hostile to the Sharia. We oppose it even if someone says: "I do not agree with the sovereignty of the people, but we take it as a means to implement the Sharia." But the democrats have gone further and more dangerously than that, for the statements mentioned correct the concept of the sovereignty of the people in itself, not that it considers it a corrupt means of necessity for a noble goal, but it has become to promote the idea that the will of the people is sacred in itself even if it chooses something other than the Sharia of Allah. It has become to instill in the minds that the people are the ones who have the right to judge things, and that their judgment is respected no matter what, because it represents popular legitimacy. This corrupt concept and this new religion called the sovereignty of the people have corrupted the beliefs of many Muslims and their perceptions, and have caused confusion in their rulings and actions. And we will see examples of that in the next episode, by the permission of Allah, the Almighty.

Summary of the Episode

The sovereignty of the people means the divinity of the people. For sovereignty means the right to judge speech, actions, principles, and ideas, and the right to reward and punish in this world. And all of this is for Allah, the Almighty.
