Peace be upon you and the mercy of God and His blessings, dear brothers; we would like to review the motivations behind the conflict in Mali, its future expectations, and our duty towards it.
Firstly, Mali is one of the ancient Islamic centers; the Islamic University of Timbuktu was established there about nine hundred years ago, making it one of the oldest universities in the world. Mali lived under Muslim states for centuries, including the Songhai Kingdom, which the Sultan of Morocco allied with Elizabeth I, Queen of Britain, to invade in 1591 AD. They destroyed its civilization and enslaved its people and scholars, such as Ahmad Baba of Timbuktu.
What many do not know is that some of those enslaved by the Western Crusaders in Mali and other African countries were graduates of universities and Muslim scholars, such as Omar ibn Said of Senegal (who passed away in 1864 AD), whose images still exist in the American historical archives.
Later, France occupied Mali in the late 19th century and committed crimes there, only leaving after planting a puppet regime that ensured the continuation of its control over Mali and the plundering of its resources. The successive regimes oppressed the sons of the Muslim people, especially the Tuaregs and Arabs scattered across northern Mali and neighboring countries.
Liberation movements emerged, demanding self-rule and improved living conditions. However, these movements were not Islamic in nature, which led the international community to adopt a policy of containment and call for negotiations with the central government, suspending them with promises that soon proved false.
Then, an Islamic awakening emerged among the Tuaregs, and groups appeared whose vision became clear, realizing that there was no salvation except by applying the Sharia, which unites the sons of different ethnicities under one word, liberates the country from subjugation to France, and from the corruption and oppression of the central puppet governments, achieving for the Muslims the good of this world and the hereafter.
One of these groups is the Ansar al-Din Group, led by Iyad Ag Ghaly - may God preserve him - who had previously tried diplomatic paths and worked as a consul for the state of Mali in Saudi Arabia. He then retired from these paths and founded the Ansar al-Din Group, which allied with other Islamic groups sharing the same liberating vision.
The literature of the Ansar al-Din Group is characterized by the purity of its methodology, balance, wisdom, mercy, steadfastness, and realism, all indicating the presence of great scholars in this group and the existence of a comprehensive civilizational project despite the scarcity of resources. This is evident in the interviews with "Sanda Ould Bounama," the official spokesman for the group, who stated that among the goals of the group are:
The liberation movements that emerged in many parts of the world after World War II were based on political ideas such as independence and equality, which are negotiable in the eyes of the West. However, what they cannot negotiate is the re-establishment of the Caliphate, the imposition of Sharia, and the rejection of Western liberal values.
Western officials say these values are the foundations of their civilization and are non-negotiable. No rational person is deceived by the international community's concern for women's rights or freedom of expression, which are violated in Syria, Burma, and elsewhere. The simple truth is that the international community can never accept the idea of applying Sharia in any part of the world; because it means the emergence of a shining model that humanity, suffering from the slavery of capitalism and its greed, yearns for, and it means canceling the magic of the media machine that has long worked to distort the concept of Sharia.
Our brothers in Ansar al-Din, when they entered an area, spread security, showed mercy to the people, stopped taxes and exploitation, distributed resources equally, preserved the rights of people of other faiths, and preferred the weak over themselves. The success of this model in the land of Mali allows the peoples to compare it with the existing systems that have failed humanely and brought misery to humanity, and deprives the West of stealing the country's wealth.
Similarly, the Arab systems cannot bear the success of this model, which will become a beacon and an example to be emulated by the peoples seeking dignity, and will expose the falsity of the fatwas of the "rulers" and the stage of weakness, interest, and corruption. Therefore, these systems have deeply engaged in treachery and collusion with France against Ansar al-Din.
The international community that supervised the defusing of revolutions in Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya, and supervised their democratic elections because it knows that they will exhaust the peoples in their labyrinths and will not liberate them from slavery to the West, is the same one that moved with violence and bloodshed and refused to negotiate in Mali, as it did before in Afghanistan and Somalia; for these regions all want to apply Sharia.
The spokesman for Ansar al-Din, "Sanda Ould Bounama," said: "The Ansar al-Din Group is in a phase that imposes on it the acceptance of negotiations and the search for a solution with any party that has influence in this land, but with one condition that it does not relinquish: that it does not become an obstacle in the way of the rule of God's religion, for which we took up arms and waged war. Other than that, we accept discussing it out of mercy for the people and as an excuse to God."
Indeed, the group had previously praised Algeria's mediation in the negotiations, although it is fully aware that Algeria is ultimately part of the international system and an executor of its policies. However, Ansar al-Din showed every effort to avoid provoking neighboring regimes. But for the international community, the enforcement of God's religion simply cannot be negotiated.
The war began and the mujahideen withdrew from the cities along with the people; because the Crusaders and their allies were bombarding the cities indiscriminately as long as the mujahideen were present. The same scenes repeated themselves that we had seen before in Afghanistan, Somalia, Nigeria, and Chechnya; whenever the regular forces entered a city that had hosted the mujahideen, they would deal harshly with the people, executing them in the streets and violating their honor as punishment for their support of the mujahideen.
However, reviewing the dark history of Western colonialism in Mali, then the persecution of the Tuareg and Arab governments and their corruption, the roots of the conflict will remain alive even if France eliminates the general elements of Ansar al-Din and other Islamic groups; for the wombs of the women of Mali who chose dignity will continue to give birth to heroes, God willing.
This is a new area of conflict between truth and falsehood, and they will continue to struggle until God eliminates falsehood and the volcano of Islam erupts again, God willing. At the same time, we expect our brothers in Mali to face severe trials that will test them, for gold is purified when it is put into the furnace.
Eleven years ago, when the world invaded Afghanistan, we thought, as did many Muslims, that God would swiftly decide the matter with a miracle from Him and would support His servants in the Taliban. Then, suddenly, the cities fell, the mujahideen were captured and killed by the thousands, and painful images of mistreated mujahideen were published. These images were a shock to us, as we did not practically understand the Sunnah of God in testing and training His servants and choosing martyrs from among them. It seemed to many that the religion of God would not stand in that land for decades.
Now, today we see the world begging the mujahideen of Afghanistan to sit at the negotiating table, and 193 countries gather in the "Bonn" conference to discuss their predicament with the mujahideen. Many elements of the Taliban may have been killed during these years, but they have ignited with their blood the flame of liberation and love for Sharia in the hearts of the people.
Similarly, our brothers in Mali will remain, God willing, steadfast on the truth, undeterred by those who oppose them, betray them, or abandon them. They have ignited the flame of Sharia and liberation from the bondage of human servitude. Even if God chooses the general majority of the mujahideen to be with Him, the flame they have ignited will not be extinguished, God willing, until it touches the natural disposition in the hearts of the Muslims, and the volcano of dignity erupts to burn the earth from under the ruling tyrants and the enemies of humanity and their supporters, and leads the Muslims to a new glory.
Let each of us choose his place in this flame; whoever contributes to it with a good deed, congratulations to him, and whoever tries to extinguish it, God will perfect His light even if the disbelievers hate it, and whoever stands as a spectator, let him prepare his answer to God. Let us work, brothers, to clarify the truth of this Crusader war and the betrayal of those participating in it from our own people, and to support our brothers who have a right over us, each according to his ability to support.
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of God and His blessings.
