"And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you are ungrateful, indeed, My punishment is severe.'"
One of the phenomena that the Quran speaks about is the heedlessness of man after the Most Merciful saves him: "And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself."
