New Zealand Events... There Is Good in the Ummah
Introduction: Muslims' Reactions to the New Zealand Events
Peace be upon you. Dear brothers, in the past few days, we have seen the reactions of Muslims to the crime committed against their praying brothers in two mosques in New Zealand. Someone might say: What are these reactions? Just sympathy, words, and supplication, and this does not help.
No, my brothers, our Prophet peace be upon him said: "Do not belittle any good deed." There is no doubt that your sympathy for your brothers is a good deed, your anger towards those who attack them is a good deed, and your supplication for them is a good deed. This is not enough, yes, but it is the beginning of good, by the permission of Allah.
Such events awaken the Islamic consciousness in many people. We have seen examples of people who said: "I will leave my disobedience from today, I will adhere to my prayers from today" after seeing what happened to their brothers. This is good and a sign of life in the Muhammadan nation, and praise be to Allah.
I know personally a family in America of Egyptian origin, and this family has three non-veiled girls. When they saw the global campaign against Afghanistan in 2001, they felt that Islam itself was being targeted. The three sisters veiled and became preachers, and their commitment has been very good, thanks to Allah, until this day, as we count them, and Allah is their reckoner.
The One Nation: Concepts to Revive
With their Muslim brothers in New Zealand, look what the criminals do to your brothers. Come, my son, and remember that our Messenger peace be upon him said: "The example of believers in their mutual love, mercy, and sympathy is like the example of a single body. When one part of it feels pain, the whole body responds with fever and sleeplessness."
Remember that Allah the Almighty said: {Indeed, this ummah of yours is one ummah, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.} These meanings are intended to be obscured in the rising generation. These meanings are intended to be hidden, and the talk is about the homeland, citizenship, and the borders drawn by the occupying colonizer who exploits the lands of the Muslims, and they forget the concept of the one nation.
Do not tell your son that Allah the Almighty said: {The believers are but brothers.} Tell your son that he belongs and is proud of his Islamic identity because Allah the Almighty said: {He has named you Muslims.} This is the name that I accept, I belong to an Islamic nation, and I sympathize with my brothers and do not differentiate between my Muslim brother in New Zealand, in China, in India, and in all parts of the earth.
Supplication and Conclusion
We must utilize such events to revive these great meanings. And we ask Allah the Great, the Lord of the Great Throne, to cover the Muslims who were killed with His mercy, to take revenge on the oppressors, and to honor us with Islam and honor Islam through us. Peace be upon you.
