Prophet Yusuf, peace be upon him: A Compelling Proof for Youth
This is a great lesson for all young people. By God, Prophet Yusuf, peace be upon him, has left no excuse for you. No one among you should say, "But the situation was difficult," or "The temptations were intense."
First, we must understand that Allah the Exalted does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear. Whoever claims that the temptation was beyond their capacity is, God forbid, implying that Allah tested him without granting him the ability to resist. This is an accusation against Allah’s wisdom, may He be exalted above such claims. Allah is far removed from burdening His servants with what they cannot endure.
Second, Allah has set before you a magnificent example in Prophet Yusuf, peace be upon him. No matter how intense your temptation may be, young contemporary believer, it will never reach the level of Yusuf’s trial. Yet he held firm to Allah and was saved by Him, the Exalted. No one should excuse themselves by saying, "Yusuf was a prophet." If emulating him were impossible, Allah would not have detailed this story so precisely in His Noble Book.
Honesty in Fleeing from Temptation
Prophet Yusuf, peace be upon him, leaves no room for justification. Some people willingly place themselves in environments of temptation and then say, "O Lord, I could not resist!" The question is: Did you flee as Yusuf fled?
Whoever keeps an app on their phone knowing it will expose them to forbidden content, or keeps a contact number that could drag them into sin at any moment, has not truly severed ties with evil. Such a person is not sincere in seeking chastity.
The profound lesson here is to flee temptation entirely, to disassociate ourselves from our own strength and ability, and to seek refuge in Allah the Exalted so that He may deliver us from such situations.
